George W. Bush Says “No” To Similar India Nuclear Deal For Pakistan
A lot of Pakistani’s and Indian’s just out and out hate each other. This is a huge snub against Pakistan after India have already been given a nuclear deal.
The India deal, announced on Thursday, marks a breakthrough for New Delhi, long treated as a nuclear pariah by the world, allowing it to access U.S. atomic technology and fuel to meet its soaring energy needs. The agreement needs approval by the U.S. Congress.
The situation with Pakistan is already tense and being seen to do India favors will have ramnifications down the line.
Bush said about Pakistan:
“I explained that Pakistan and India are different countries with different needs and different histories.”
I imagine the Pakistani’s would find this kind of thing pretty patronizing.
