Aquellio Parker turned himself in Sunday after helping dispose of a dead body in Ridgefield Park, NJ. The remains of 44-year-old Nicole Flanagan were found on Aug. 13 inside a 55-gallon barrel in a residential area. Parker is charged “with one count of second-degree being an accomplice to disturbing, moving, and/or concealing human remains” among others, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

The prosecutor’s office announced the charges Tuesday after a two-week investigation. With the help of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and Ridgefield Park Police Department, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was able to submit charges against the 29-year-old New Yorker. The charges were filed against Aquellio Parker last Thursday alongside a warrant for his arrest.

According to reports, Parker then turned himself in over the weekend and is now awaiting extradition to New Jersey. It wasn’t immediately clear what Aquellio Parker’s role in the incident was or how he assisted in the disposal of Nicole Flanagan’s corpse. It also isn’t clear how Flanagan – a New York prostitute – died.

A toxicology exam was conducted on the Queens escort though police are still awaiting the results. An investigation found that Nicole Flanagan was last seen on Aug. 6 inside the elevator of an apartment building in the Financial District. Security camera footage showed her riding the elevator with a 25-year-old gang member. They both got off on floor 22.

Police then found footage of the same gang member with a large plastic barrel inside the same building on Aug. 11. One day later, the same man wheeled the barrel to a U-Haul parked next to the service entrance. It was being driven by an unidentified man. It’s not clear if Aquellio Parker was the man behind the wheel.

Nicole Flanagan’s naked body was found later that day when Ridgefield Park residents found the large plastic contained in the area of Hobart Street and Teaneck Road. They reported the barrel to police, citing a horrible smell emanating from the object.

Authorities have identified the gang member but have not released his name to the public. Police have not commented on whether this was murder or accidental death. Last Thursday, a resident of the 95 Wall Street building told reporters that police knocked down his neighbor’s door. Authorities have since focused all their attention on that unit. The apartment was occupied by two men in their mid-20s, the resident said.

“The police are still up there and they’re looking for the two guys,” the resident told reporters last week. “I know them. I see them all the time.”

He also explained that the police asked him questions regarding the investigation. They “asked me if I smelled anything funny,” he admitted to reporters. “But [the two men] smoked pot 24/7. I just smelled pot and bad air freshener, but I didn’t smell anything out of the ordinary.”

The resident explained that the two men had moved into the building after the pandemic started. They reportedly worked out a deal with the apartment’s leaseholder, though it’s not clear what the nature of the deal was. The neighbor described the men as “cool-looking” and “young.” He said “you wouldn’t think anything of them. They were very respectful to me and always would start a conversation with me in the hall.”

As of now, police still don’t know how Nicole Flanagan died. Her body had no signs of injury and it’s unclear if the two men in the apartment had anything to do with her death. Aquellio Parker is awaiting trial. Bail has not been set. It wasn’t immediately clear if Parker made a statement to police regarding the circumstances surrounding Flanagan’s death.
