Law enforcement investigating Bob Saget’s death believe that the comedian may have suffered from a heart attack or stroke, according to TMZ, though it could take weeks to uncover what happened.
The Full House star was found dead in his Orlando hotel room on Sunday night at the age 65. Family members reached out to police to perform a wellness check after he could not be reached when he was supposed to check out.
Investigators told TMZ that the position Bob Saget’s body was in when they arrived at the hotel indicates he likely had a heart attack or stroke. He was found by hotel security lying face up on his bed, according to police, with his left arm on his chest and his right arm down by his side.
Though the cause has yet to be confirmed, the position the body was found in suggests a kind of medical emergency, such as a sudden cardiac arrest.
On Monday, Orange County Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany completed an autopsy and announced that, “At this time, there is no evidence of drug use or foul play,” ruling out accidental overdose as a potential cause of death.
“The cause and manner of death are pending further studies and investigation,” he continued, “which may take up to 10-12 weeks to complete.”
Meanwhile, authorities investigating Bob Saget’s hotel reported that his room was very “orderly,” showing no signs of distress or that a struggle of any kind took place.
“No signs of trauma were seen,” an incident report read.
TMZ also reported that Bob Saget had just battled Covid-19. He recently talked in a podcast discussed Covid in a podcast, saying it was “not good.” It is unknown at this time, according to law enforcement officers, if Covid-19 played a part in his untimely passing. It is also unclear whether the comedian was fully vaccinated.
Fans and loved ones will now have to wait 10-12 weeks for the toxicology report to provide more answers in the tragic loss.
“He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter,” the family said in their official statement.
“Though we ask for privacy at this time,” the Saget family continued, “we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”
As authorities investigated the hotel room, Bob Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, was the first person informed. He is also survived by three children, Aubrey, Lara Melanie, and Jennifer Belle, from his previous marriage to Sherri Kramer.
Outside his most well-known role in Full House, the comedian and actor also appeared in films such as Half Baked, Dirty Work, Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, and Raising Dad. Bob also had a recurring voice over role on How I Met Your Mother, and appeared in the Netflix reboot of Full House entitled Fuller House.
“I’m not ready to accept that he’s gone – I’m not going to say goodbye yet,” former co-star and lifelong friend John Stamos wrote in a heartbreaking tribute.
“I’m going to imagine him out there, still on the road, doing what he loves with all his heart and humor,” Stamos continued. “He’s standing on stage, killing! Another two-hour set in front of a couple hundred of the luckiest people on the planet.”
“I’m just not ready to say goodbye yet. Maybe tomorrow,” he concluded. “I know in my heart he’s smiling, still hearing the laughter from a few hours before.”
