Update: the District Attorney in Tennessee reported that, “This is a death investigation and any attempt to classify it as a homicide investigation at this time is premature and irresponsible,” according to TMZ. Previous sources told the news outlet that Bobby Jolly was arrested in question of murder, but it was for “an unrelated matter.”

Investigators looking into the death of Hannah Daughtry, Chris Daughtry’s daughter, have arrested her boyfriend Bobby Jolly, according to TMZ. But new information points to the fact that the arrest was for a different matter, not for Hannah Daughtry’s death.

According to TMZ, Fentress County police did not confirm that Bobby Jolly was arrested, or that he was a person of interest the case. As authorities search for answers as to what happened to Hannah Daughtry, 25, District Attorney General Jared Effler confirmed that an investigation into her death in still ongoing.

No cause of death has been released yet, but many believe there was foul play. After TMZ reported that Bobby Jolly was being investigated, her mother, Deanna Daughtry, shared that Hannah had sustained some sort of injury before she died.

“My first born,” Deanna wrote in an Instagram tribute. “I love you endlessly Hannah. Our family would like to thank you all for the outpouring of love as we grieve the loss of our daughter Hannah. We are awaiting the autopsy results to determine how Hannah sustained the injuries that caused her death. Our hearts are broken.”

According to the New York Post, Chris Daughtry is Hannah’s stepfather. Her biological father, Randall Scott Price, committed suicide back in March 2018.

Nearly eight months later, Hannah Daughtry and her roommate were allegedly involved in some gang dispute, and she was shot in the face. Undergoing surgery, she was fitted with a prosthetic eye.

Writing on her Facebook page at the time, Hannah Daughtry described the scene as a gang initiation gone wrong for the Crips in Tennessee. She alleged that she was trying to “save a friend” by attempting to run the gunman over with her car.

“I noticed they didn’t have the gun cocked so by the time I noticed they were trying to shoot at him I was trying to run the kid over with my car and I ended up getting shot in the face,” she wrote on Facebook. “I was blind for a little over two weeks and this happened directly after my dad had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. It was a lot.”

A GoFundMe sharing her brutal injuries was started in Oct. 2018 following the incident, but it was no longer accepting donations after just $945 came through.

“I do have insurance so it covers most of it but I have an out-of-pocket pay about $120,” the page read. “I totaled my car whenever I was shot trying to save my friend so I also need to save money to get a new vehicle so that I can start working again.”

Chris Daughtry immediately postponed his tour following the news of his daughter’s passing and went home to spend time grieving with his family. Hannah Daughtry is also survived by her brother Griffin, 23, and twins Adalynn Rose and Noah James, 10.

“I am still processing the last 24 hours. I am absolutely devastated and Heartbroken,” said Chris Daughtry. “I just recently in the last week lost my mother to cancer but I was blessed with the chance to say goodbye and I was processing it privately. We never got to say goodbye to our precious Hannah and it’s another huge hit to our family.”

“Thank you for all the kind words and condolences, They are truly felt and appreciated,” he continued. “I am now taking time to be present with my family as we attempt to heal from this series of devastating losses. Hannah, I love you and I miss you. I wish I could hold you. This hurts so deeply.”

A representative for Daughtry also released a statement on social media, asking “that people respect the family’s privacy.”

“We will share updates as soon as we are able to,” the statement read. “Thank you for your understanding and patience as well as sensitivity at this time.”

According to Fentress County police, the autopsy results have yet to be released as the investigation into Hannah Daughtry’s death remains ongoing.
