After Bre Tiesi and Nick Cannon announced they are pregnant with a baby boy, Nick’s ex Alyssa Scott is speaking out. Just a month ago, Nick announced the death of his youngest son, Zen, whom he shared with Alyssa.
“I want to thank every single person who has messaged or thought of me over the last course of these last few months,” Alyssa Scott said. “I always say Zen expanded my heart in ways I never thought possible. He filled that that space with compassion, knowing I would need that most.”
She continued: “It is painful having my son be apart of conversations that aren’t in alignment with his light and legacy. It isn’t something I chose for him or myself.”
“It’s important for me to let you all know.. I am centered, I am at peace,” she wrote. “I look at everyone’s predicament with loving eyes. I will not judge. I will consciously decide what I will participate in. I am surrounded by love. God, my mom, dad, sister, brother and daughter continue to carry me.”
On his talk show, the rapper shared that he’s expecting a baby with Bre. The announcement followed a gender reveal party in Malibu. This will be Nick’s 8th child and Bre’s 1st.
Nick confirmed the baby news on Monday during an episode of The Nick Cannon Show. He first shared a series of tweets joking about having a baby so soon, before turning attention to a picture of him and Bre at the gender reveal for his Pic of the Day.
According to Nick, he knew about Bre’s pregnancy “for a while,” before Zen’s death and the couple decided to hold off announcing the new baby in respect to Zen and Alyssa Scott.
“So even going through all of that, this was always in the back of my mind, like, ‘What is the right time? How do I share this?'” he said.
“No one, we didn’t expect Zen to pass away … All of the news was so unexpected. I wanted to definitely respect the grieving process with Alyssa, and Bre was respectful enough — She held off making our announcements and speaking on social media,” Cannon continued. “She’s a very, you know, in the public eye type of person, but keeps her stuff private as well.”
In Dec. 2021, the rapper announced that Zen passed away from a brain tumor. The baby boy was just 5 months old at the time of his death.
According to Bre Tiesi’s Instagram story, she has been able to keep the baby a secret for “almost my entire pregnancy.” Nick said on his talk show that Bre is about 20 weeks along in her pregnancy.
Nick also mentioned on his talk show that they didn’t want to announce the pregnancy right now. He said, “Even right now, that it came out yesterday, that wasn’t planned to talk about it. We wanted to, you know, hold on as long as we can, but it happened. We here and I’m with my family I get to discuss it, I get to be open.”
Photos from the gender reveal show Bre and Nick surrounded by friends and family. Bre and Nick were both dressed in all white and the mother-to-be looked gorgeous in a fitted white dress. Photos show her cradling her baby bump. The venue was decorated with pink, white and blue balloons and the couple and their guests popped confetti cannons to discover the gender.
When Bre and Nick’s baby boy enters the world, he will be surrounded by a large family. Nick shares twins Moroccan and Monroe, 10, with ex Mariah Carey, son Golden and daughter Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell, twin sons Zion and Zillion with Abby De La Rosa and the late Zen Cannon with Alyssa Scott.
Powerful Queen, Zion, Zillion and Zen were all born within the last 14 months.
Following the announcement of Nick’s eighth child, Alyssa Scott posted on her Instagram and told her fans that she has found peace after her baby’s death and continues to remember him while also moving forward. She said, “We knew since August that Zens time on this earth would be limited. We knew he would not make it to see 6 months. I am eternally grateful he was in the arms of the people who loved him most. I know we were fully present and with him in these moments. We love you Zen. We got you down here baby boy.”
With eight kids to love, many fans are wondering if Nick is done expanding his family. The TV star revealed that he doesn’t have a specific number that he wants to stop at. He wants to have “as many children as I can helpfully provide for.” Nick told his audience that he understands that not everyone understands his lifestyle, but he loves all his children and that’s all that matters to him.
