Cassie Luycx, Brian Landrie’s sister, has raised new questions about where her brother is, how much she knows and whether she lied when she gave previous statements.
The attorney representing her parents, Steven Bertolino, has said that Cassie Laundrie Lucyx saw her brother twice within a key period of time: the first time on Sept. 1, when he arrived home, and again on Sept. 6 when she met with him and Brian’s parents at a campground.
Bertolino offered an explanation of the apparent discrepancy. “Law enforcement agencies are well aware of these dates,” he has said. “Any prior communication by Cassie that does not reflect these dates is simply a difference of relating an answer to a question misinterpreted by Cassie or poorly posed by the inquirer.”
Nevertheless, the Brian Laundrie timeline has become vital to understanding where he could be and whether his family has that information.
Cassie’s Good Morning America Interview
In mid-September, Cassie Laundrie gave an interview to Good Morning America in which she clearly said that she had not had a chance to speak to her brother Brian since his return to Florida from his cross-country trip, on Sept. 1.
Gabby’s family reported her missing 10 days after Brian’s return alone, in the van they had shared.
In that GMA interview, Cassie Laundrie, also known as Cassandra, described Gabby as “like a sister … my children love her, and all I want is for her to come home safe and sound and this to be just a big misunderstanding.”
She was asked about an incident on Aug. 12 when police were called to a disturbance between Gabby and Brian in Moab, Utah.
Police saw that there had been some sort of altercation between them, and bodycam video footage also makes that clear. But the police did not file charges. Instead, they brought Brian to a hotel and left Gabby with the van.
With reference to this video, Cassie Luycx said, “It looks typical for both of them. Whenever they fight, they would take a little break and come back and be fine, because that’s what you do in a couple.”
So Cassie has been more outspoken than her mother and father in this matter. That is certain. But it’s unclear whether the information she shared was true.
The Timeline Keeps Getting Changed
Petito’s father, Joe, has said that he hopes that pleas, the community, and “the entire damned planet” may “knock some sense” into Cassie until she says “I’ve got to speak.”
Social media sleuths are looking especially at the timeline of Landrie family behavior as it contrasts with Cassie’s claim that she did not speak to her brother between Sept. 1 and her GMA interview.
Cassie and Brian Laundrie’s mother, Roberta Laundrie, made reservations on Aug. 24 initially for two people to camp at De Soto Park Campground in Saint Petersberg on Sept. 1 – Sept. 3. De Soto is about 75 miles north of the Laundrie family home in North Port, Florida.
Roberta Laundrie canceled those reservations on Aug. 31, according to Fox News, which says it has obtained the documents to prove this.
The two elder Laundries and their son Brian went to the park with them nearly a week after the days of that initial reservation. Now it appears that Cassie was with them, at least for a time.
One Brian Laundrie Theory Is …
One theory of the case, associated with Duane (“Dog the bounty hunter”) Chapman, is that the Laundrie family went to that park, the parents returned home, and Brian is still somewhere in the park.
