Disturbing video has surfaced of a Castleberry high school student hitting a teacher and then throwing a phone at her. It is unclear when the attack happened, but the viral video was posted by @SmashDaTopic. Fort Worth, Tx. police along with the school district are investigating the assault to determine what happened.
The video, which has gotten over 1.2K likes and 130,000 views, showed a white student walking to the front of the classroom, hanging up a landline phone that the Black teacher was using and then getting into an argument with her.
The allegedly racist incident was recorded by an unknown Castleberry high school student and it is unclear if they had any involvement in the attack. The female student hit the teacher and the woman is seen walking off screen supposedly to get help and said “Oh no, no, no, no, no. You touched me. I did not touch you.”
The Castleberry high school student threatened to call her “momma,” and said “I am calling my momma, you ain’t about to f*** me up b****!”
After the argument, the student uses the phone to call her mom and she can be heard saying “racially charged” comments about the teacher. Video showed her saying, “I need you to get over here now because this teacher is about to get f–ked up if she doesn’t get the f–k away from me,” the student said on the phone to her mother “You want to talk to her because she’s Black, and she’s f–king pissing me off right now.”
The white student then asked her mom if she wanted to speak to the teacher before throwing the phone at the Black teacher who is sitting at her desk waiting for the student to finish. After throwing the phone, the student stormed out of the classroom.
The Castleberry High School school district issued a statement after the incident and said that they were “greatly disturbed,” by the actions of the Castleberry high school student and would be investigating the assault. Because of the criminal aspects of the video, the district turned the main investigation over to the Fort Worth police department.
In their statement, the district also applauded the calm demeanor of the teacher and thanked her for her actions in the video. They said, “We first want to commend the teacher for the calm demeanor and utter professionalism she demonstrated throughout the entirety of the incident, even when the situation turned violent and offensive. We support this teacher and her response in the strongest terms possible.”
A group of Castleberry parents have started a fundraiser to raise money for the teacher, who is reportedly called Mrs. Beasley and is a substitute teacher at the school. A post was shared on Facebook with a Venmo for donations and a place where people could drop off flowers and other gifts.
It is unclear if the Castleberry High School student has been charged for any of her actions. Her identity has been kept private because she is a minor. The school district said it will not tolerate any violence or harassment. They are reportedly discussing what the proper punishment should be for the girl.
The school district said, “Harassment, racism and violence against our teachers will not be tolerated at Castleberry ISD, and we will take swift and effective action to protect our teachers so that they can perform their duties and educate students in a safe environment.”
