Chris Chan was arrested Sunday on incest charges after she allegedly raped her 79-year-old mom who suffers from dementia. The 39-year-old comic creator is popular for being a trans YouTuber, though fans are outraged by the allegations.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office in Stanardsville, Virginia, posted a press release on Monday detailing the crimes committed by the YouTube star. According to the release, “the Greene County Sheriff’s Office received information involving sex crimes against a family member, who resides in the Ruckersville area.” It was indicated by the July 31 report that both the victim and suspect were residents of Greene County.
“Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued,” the sheriff’s office wrote. The next day, “the Henrico Police Department was able to locate and arrest” Christine Weston Chandler, who goes by Chris Chan on social media.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that Chan is being charged with incest after reportedly raping her elderly mother. She is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail, the press release stated.
Authorities said that the investigation into Chris Chan is ongoing and that additional charges are pending. At the end of the press release, the sheriff’s office urged anyone with information “to contact Investigator Jason Tooley with Greene County Sheriff’s Office at 434-531-0866.

Chan’s mother is believed to be suffering from dementia, which could lead to further charges. Without the mental capacity to consent, police may add rape charges on top of the pre-existing incest charges. The alleged confession is being investigated by authorities but its legitimacy is in question, according to reports.
In the eight-minute conversation, Chris Chan allegedly tells her friend that his mother had “made the first move” before they eventually shared a kiss. The trans YouTuber claimed she then conceded to the sexual activity with “care and caution,” and she admitted to having sexual feelings towards he mother for years. She even explained in the video that she had dreams of having sex with the elderly woman.
“She was partially confused at one point,” Chan admits on the phone. “Then she came around, obviously.” The conversation continues, diving into further detail about the pair’s mother-daughter relationship. During the phone call, the voice, which seems to match Chris Chan’s, explains that she has sex with her mother “every third night” and that they both enjoy it.
Fans on Twitter have pointed out that beyond the issue of incest, having sex with an elderly woman with dementia might be considered rape. Authorities have not confirmed a rape charge.
During her arrest, Chris Chan was recorded by Ethan Ralph, an alt-right podcaster. Chan was taken into custody at the Regency Inn in Richmond, Virginia. In the video, the handcuffed YouTuber says that “I am compliant, I am good like this,” before explaining that “everything is going to work out.”
Fans of Chan’s are beyond disappointed at the news. The trans YouTuber was not only an inspiration for many but a source of continuous content. Chris Chan is best known for creating Sonichu, a comic series character that is described as a cross between Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog. She posts regular content on her YouTube channel, which has over 50,000 subscribers.
Chris Chan’s mother was frequently featured on her channel often in comedic YouTube shorts. Chan’s last Instagram post featured two pictures of her mother with a new haircut. “Barbie Chan got a styling haircut,” the artist wrote. “I did that; first time cutting anyone’s hair. It looks really good.”
