Chrishell Stause has had numerous high-profile breakups over the years, including a broken engagement to Matthew Morrison and a devastating divorce with Justin Hartley. Now the Selling Sunset star is opening up about her difficult relationships in a new tell-all book, titled Under Construction.

The book will reportedly dive into her upbringing in Kentucky, her experience with homelessness, and her family’s struggles with addiction. Aside from appearing on three seasons of Selling Sunset, Chrishell was also a former Dancing with the Stars competitor who says her dream is to one day star on a daytime soap opera.

“I have always loved writing and it is an honor to be able to tell my story in this way,” she wrote. “I’ve had such a crazy life journey and in the process of finding my voice, I’m hopeful I can inspire others along the way as well.”

In excerpts of her new memoir, Chrishell Stause explains that she often falls for people who are super-passionate about their work. She says because she lives in Los Angeles those men tend to be actors.

Her first high-profile boyfriend was Glee actor Matthew Morrison. After getting engaged and later realizing that he wasn’t ready to commit, the two split in 2007.

“If I ended up with the person I was with when I was twenty-five, I would want to kill myself,” Chrishell said in one episode of Selling Sunset. “You were a d–k! Sorry!”

At the time, Chrishell allegedly believed that Matthew Morrison was cheating on her with his Glee co-star Lea Michele. The two denied the reports and called them “so laughable.” Chrishell and Matthew are reportedly now on better terms.

The Selling Sunset star then met and started dating This Is Us star Justin Hartley in 2014, before getting married in Oct. 2017. Before a devastating divorce at the end of 2019, the actor reportedly notified her via text, which played out on Selling Sunset Season 3.

“Although there were definitely signs that things were far from perfect, ending things in such a finite way, without talking it through, was a complete shock,” she wrote in her new memoir. “The last thing I want to do is rehash old wounds but being so far away from it now I can see that what happened was a gift. Now I understand much more clearly how I deserve to be treated.”

“I didn’t mind my love life being public, because it was something I was so proud of. However, I never could have predicted how it all came crashing down so forcefully,” she continued. “Divorce is humiliating, and it can make you feel like a failure as a person.”

Chrishell Stause also lost her father that same year to lung cancer and admitted that she considered leaving the show. Justin Hartley remarried in March 2021 to his former The Young and the Restless co-star Sofia Pernas.

“I ultimately decided I couldn’t lose my job too,” she said, admitting that she was “terrified to put all that on camera.”

The reality star then briefly dated her boss, Jason Oppenheim, but the two split in December 2021.

“Did I learn from my mistakes after Justin?” she added, “Well, when it comes to love I’m still a work in progress… Instead of feeling sorry for myself after we broke up, I felt empowered.”

Chrishell Stause’s memoir Under Construction is due out on Feb. 8.
