Christina Rack, a 48-year-old mother of two, was found dead two-and-a-half years after disappearing in a nature reserve. Rack vanished on her way to meet her son for a walk, and her body was just found near a river in Chorlton, Manchester.
The body was located by dog walkers last month and the human remains have just been identified by investigators. Christina Rack was last seen on the night of October 1, 2018, when she was with her daughter, Lola.
Rack’s body went through a post-mortem examination in order for law enforcement to identify her. The two-and-a-half-year missing person’s investigation has not been closed, however. Police are still trying to piece together what happened to the Manchester mother back in 2018.
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Police said that Rack’s “body was discovered by dog walkers shortly before 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, in the Chorlton Ees area close to the River Mersey.” The spokesperson continued, admitting “police continued to investigate the circumstances around Christina’s death.”
Christina Rack’s brother, Martin, had said back in 2018 that “there was nothing to suspect that she was going to disappear,” and that “there was no issue, no argument with the family which had come to a head.”
On October 1, 2018, Rack had left her Bolesworth Close home in Chorlton to meet her son, Jacob Rack, for a walk in the nearby woodland. She was last seen by her daughter Lola in the house she shared with both children. She never arrived for the walk at Chorlton Meadows, her son waiting at a bench they’d picked as the designated meeting spot.
At the time, police scoured the area for signs of her disappearance. Investigators looked throughout Chorlton Meadows and the nearby Sale Water Park. It wasn’t until April 13 that her body was found.
This morning, police explained that “Christina’s family wish to thank all those that have supported in the search for her since she was reported missing.”
It was confirmed by police that Christina Rack suffered from mental health issues, but she didn’t have her prescribed medication with her at the time of her disappearance. Investigators fear her mental health issues and lack of medication played a role in her disappearance, but nothing has been confirmed.
Police are currently asking for any information on Rack’s disappearance or death. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is being asked to reach out to the Greater Manchester Police.
