Christine Hammontree went missing after getting into an SUV in Times Square early Monday. The 29-year-old from Maine reportedly got into a vehicle with “a group of unidentified individuals” outside of McDonald’s in in Times Square.
Hammontree has been missing since May 23 and both NYPD officers and Maine officials are investigating the disappearance. Christine Hammontree was a resident of Maine at the time she went missing, giving local police from Falmouth, Maine primary jurisdiction in the case.
Her parents reported that she was missing on Tuesday, though surveillance footage shows that the young woman entered the SUV a little after 2 a.m. Monday. Specifics about the vehicle or its occupants have not been revealed to the public, and no suspects have been identified by those leading the case.
Lt. Jeff Pardue of the Falmouth police department explained that a subpoena has been filed for additional surveillance footage which is likely to reveal clearer details regarding the suspects. Christine Hammontree was visiting her boyfriend in New York City when she disappeared, though it’s unclear how long she had been in the city before she went missing. Lt. Pardue, however, confirmed that she was scheduled to be back in Maine later in the week.
Hammontree has no priors, history of drug use, mental health issues, or previous disappearances, according to police. Officials describe her as 5’9” tall and 110 pounds. The 29-year-old woman has brown hair and was last seen wearing a blue shirt, shorts, black flip flops, and an orange backpack.
Her friends on social media have flooded her feed with prayers, though she has yet to respond to any of the comments. Her latest picture posted four weeks ago has dozens of pleas for her safe return. Christine Hammontree’s Instagram bio claims she is a digital creator.
