Christy Giles’ mother believes the 24-year-old was drugged and assaulted before she died, she said in an interview more than a week after her daughter’s mysterious death.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun on Saturday, Dusty Giles said her daughter would have would have “fought like hell” against an attacker and must have been incapacitated by the men she was with on Nov. 12.
Christy Giles’ body was dumped outside of a Los Angeles hospital on Nov. 13, hours after she had gone out partying with a friend and never came home. The friend, 26-year-old Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, was found near a different area hospital and remains in critical condition as of Sunday.
Christy Giles’ Mother: 24-Year-Old was Drugged
Christy’s mother Dusty and her husband Jan Cilliers told reporters that Hilda tested positive for heroin, and said they are still waiting on Christy’s toxicology results — but they maintain neither woman would voluntarily use the drug, and believe it was slipped to them by the men they followed to a Hollywood Hills after party last week.
As Breaking Daily News has previously reported, Giles and Cabrales-Arzola went to a warehouse party in downtown Los Angeles on Nov. 12. There, Cilliers said, they met at least two men who invited them to another party across town.
It’s not clear that the two ever made it to the Hollywood Hills. Christy’s husband told reporters that cellphone records show her last location miles away, at a Beverly Hills apartment where neighbors said they heard someone “moaning in pain all day” before the 24-year-old was dumped at the hospital.
Cilliers also said the last text his wife sent before her death was to Hilda, who she was with, at 5 a.m.: “‘Let’s get out of here,’” followed by the “wide-eye emoji,” he told ABC-7.
Dusty Giles said Saturday she believes someone slipped drugs to Christy and Hilda and sexually assaulted them.
“My daughters have been taught literally how to kill a person with a ballpoint pen” by their Iraq-veteran father, she told The Sun. “My daughter would have fought like hell, and from my understanding from speaking to the emergency room doctor and nurse, they did not see any visible bruises, scratches, or any indication of an altercation.”

“The only way that these men would have kept my daughter and Hilda for over 10 hours would be by giving them drugs, maybe tying them up,” the grieving mother added.
The men who invited Christy and Hilda to the afterparty have not been publicly identified, and police have not named them as suspects or persons of interest in the investigation of the 24-year-old’s death.
Jan Cilliers has said there is surveillance camera video from the hospital showing masked men pull up in a car without license plate and dump Giles’ body on the sidewalk. Police have not acknowledged the existence of the video, and it has not yet been released publicly.
“I believe they drugged them to keep them and I believe they probably raped them,” Dusty Giles said. “Why do you wait 10 hours until she is dead to fling her on a sidewalk, remove your license plates, obscure your face?”
Police Investigation Continues
LAPD continues to investigate Giles’ death, and detectives have said they were looking for signs of sexual assault. Giles’ mother told The Sun saturday that the family is still waiting for the results of a “rape kit” test and a toxicology report.
Though an autopsy was completed, Los Angeles County Coroner’s Officer told People that the results were inconclusive, and that further testing is need to establish a cause of death.
Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola is reportedly still in critical condition, recovering from whatever occurred the night of Nov. 12. It’s not clear if she has given a statement to investigators, but as the only living witness of Christy Giles’ final hours, Cabrales-Arzola’s recollection may be key to unraveling the mystery of her death.
While the men who invited the pair to the Hollywood Hills have not been publicly identified, Christy’s husband told reporters previously that he knows who they are. Cilliers said he’s received text messages from others who claim to have had similarly frightening experiences with the unnamed men.
