As DMX fans search for answers after his OD and death last week, some are turning to his fiancee’s Instagram account to see past photos and remember the love they shared.
The couple’s tragic love story ended on Friday, April 9, when DMX’s battle with substance abuse and addiction landed him in White Plains Hospital after an OD-induced heart attack. The week-long turmoil included a prayer vigil initiated by DMX’s mom, Arnett Simmons.
His fiancée, Desiree Lindstrom, was also by his side all week when he was in the hospital. Just a quick look at Lindstrom’s Instagram photos and videos shows how much the two adored one another.
A recent post shows the last known video of DMX before he died, revealing a humorous clip of the rapper dancing to Michael Jackson in the car. Lindstrom’s giggles can be heard behind the camera and DMX’s face lights up when he looks her way.
Other photos on Lindstrom’s Instagram page paint a picture of the couple’s love story, which included their son, Exodus, who is DMX’s 15th child. Smiles, laughs and highly romantic pictures fill the rest of her Instagram page, with lots of hugs and kisses.
Lindstrom and DMX were engaged for two years before his untimely passing. In total their relationship lasted eight years. DMX proposed to her at their son Exodus’ third birthday party, and she responded with a resounding yes. Since then she has continuously defended their relationship in the face of critics and detractors.
“People will never understand or get out relationship but guess what… f**k them!” Lindstrom captioned one of her Instagram posts. “We know we love each other; we both are not perfect by any means, but we know where we stand with each other! I love u baby!”
Defending her love of DMX was not the only thing she did on Instagram. On many occasions, Lindstrom seemed to scream (in text form) her love of her fiancée.
“SCREAMING HAPPY BIRTHDAY…to my friend, my baby daddy lol, my FIANCÉ! I love you to the moon and back,” She captioned one post. “I know you love me too, to the moon and back regardless of what anybody thinks! This year has been full of surprises, some good and some bad, but hey, it’s nothing that we can’t get through together as a couple, as a family!”
She finished the caption with, “I appreciate the type of father you are to exodus; everybody sees a difference in you when it comes to that! The promises you made me about that you keep no matter what!”
The kind of love that the couple shared will make it harder for Lindstrom to process the incredible loss. While fans around the world take to social media to express their support, Desiree Lindstrom and DMX’s mom, Arnett Simmons, start to come to terms with his unexpected passing.
Lindstrom was able to visit DMX before his death. But according to reports, he was in a vegetative state.
“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX… passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side… [He] was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him…”
