DMX’s fiancée Desiree Lindstrom and mom Arne tt Simmons are bringing family and friends together on Monday to pray for the rapper. The prayer vigil will be held at 5 p.m. EST outside of White Plains Hospital in N.Y. According to People, the vigil is being held by the Ruff Ryders to the Rescue Foundation outside.
On Friday DMX was rushed to White Plains hospital after he suffered a heart attack from a drug overdose. DMX’s manager told The New York Times that he was is in a “vegetative state” and the prognosis did not look good.
Originally, only two members of DMX ‘s family were allowed to enter the ICU where he is being treated: DMX’s fiancée, Desiree Lindstrom, and his mom, Arnett Simmons. A number of DMX’s children are now visiting, as well.
Several performers took to Twitter to express their support for DMX, including Missy Elliott and Eminem. An outpouring of love has flooded social media, which will no doubt continue during the prayer vigil.
DMX is an American rapper, songwriter, and actor who released his best-selling album, And Then There Was X in 1999. The album included the hit single Party Up (Up in Here). DMX has since been featured in films and television, and he published an autobiography entitled, E. A. R. L: The Autobiography of DMX. His last public performance was a Verzuz battle against Snoop Dogg, which garnered an audience of half a million.
Before his overdose on Friday the rapper had a complicated past with drugs and substance abuse. DMX attended rehab centers for addiction several times over the years. His last time in rehab was back in 2019 after completing a 12-month sentence for tax evasion. The rapper preemptively signed himself into the facility.
DMX’s fiancée, mother and children have always been important to him. After the birth of his 15th child, DMX told TMZ that it was a “blessing.”
