Police believe that Docquen Jovo Watkins strangled his longtime boyfriend, Rory Teasley, last week after the two men got into a fight over video games. Watkins has been arrested while Michigan police try to understand what happened.

According to reports, Oakland County police were called to the Pontiac residence on Thursday just before midnight. It was Watkins who made the 911 call and he told police that Teasley was sleeping on the couch after the two had had their fight. The two men had been fighting over Overwatch, which is a two-person shooting game.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found Rory Teasley on the couch, and he wasn’t breathing and unresponsive. The Michigan man was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A cause of death has not been released.

Oakland County Police continue to investigate the crime to understand the specifics of this strange and tragic death.

Officials believe that during the Overwatch argument, Watkins choked Teasley to death. The 31-year-old was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is being held without bond, and he is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 18 for his probable cause conference and then Jan. 25 for his preliminary examination.

“We see far too often across the country these days when people resort to violence over trivial and insignificant disagreements,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “There is never a reason where violence is acceptable over a disagreement. Those who do so will be held accountable.”

At the time of the murder, Watkins had a prior conviction of misdemeanor malicious destruction of property.
