Emilia Clarke, who expertly portrayed Game of Throne’s Daenerys Targaryen, is on her way to the Marvel Universe. The news broke Tuesday as she begins to wrap up final negotiations to join Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion.

The Disney+ series is a sequel to Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Dar From Home and will bring back characters from both titles such as Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos. The series is adapting the comic series of the same name in a storyline that brought an alien race known as Skrulls to Earth. The shapeshifting Skrulls infiltrate Earth and impersonate some of Marvel’s most iconic characters.

Emilia Clarke’s invasion into the upcoming Disney+ series means yet another big name is joining the list. Olivia Colman and Kingsley Ben-Adir have been confirmed as cast members and new additions to the MCU.

Variety reported that Marvel Studios and representative for Clarke declined to comment on the matter, but the four-time Emmy nominee will be joining the superhero Universe.

Secret Invasion was announced last year and is one of many titles slated for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series will follow in the footsteps of WandaVisionFalcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, which are all the first Marvel television series exclusively airing on the streaming service, Disney+.

The project will bring back many characters from previous Marvel titles and will likely contain many cameos, but none have been confirmed.

The character Emilia Clarke is playing in Secret Invasion is currently unknown. Whether Clarke will jump in as a Skrull or a Skrull in disguise remains to be seen. Marvel Studios likely wouldn’t hire the stunning Clarke just to put her in prosthetics. So she will likely be a Skrull impersonating a human. But that’s still speculation.

According to ScreenRant, the Disney+ series will begin filming this fall and will be an integral part of Marvel’s 2022 slate of films. It will arrive alongside Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessThor: Love and Thunder, and Captain Marvel 2, which are all slated for a 2022 release.
