Erica Pelosini apologized on Wednesday after going topless on a yacht in front of Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank. The model told Daily Mail that she was sorry and that she regrets embarrassing the princess.
The incident took place over the weekend when Jack Brooksbank was pictured aboard a yacht in Capri with three beautiful women. Rachel Zalis, Maria Buccellati, and Erica Pelosini were all bikini-clad aboard the boat, though Erica took things a bit too far. The damning photo documents a topless Erica in front of the married royal while his wife, Eugenie, was at home in Windsor watching their son.
The trip around the Mediterranean island brought some unwanted attention to the 35-year-old Jack Brooksbank, and now Erica has come forth to take responsibility for her immature actions. “I usually never go topless,” the model explained. “But my bikini got wet and I decided to take it off. I know it does not look right for Jack and his family.”
Erica Pelosini claimed that she “felt very bad for them when [she] saw the images of him surrounded by three women because his wife was not there.” She said that “it led people to make improper suggestions and jump to conclusions and it’s very hurtful that people are thinking this.”
Erica continued her apology by saying that “I’m very sorry if I caused any embarrassment to Princess Eugenie and Jack. It wasn’t appropriate for me to be topless.
The pictures published online show Jack, Erica, and the two other women taking a dip in the sea after a four-hour lunch at the Mediterranean island. The excursion took place aboard the classic 26ft ‘gozzo’ boat, and the group explored caves and grottos near Capri’s coast, according to reports.
The speedboat excursion was filled with a variety of eyebrow-raising actions on Jack’s part. One photo snapped shows the royal husband with his arm around one of the three women while holding a glass of wine. The two were cuddled up close, but followers of the royal family were more upset about Erica’s scandalous attire.
“Looking at the images, I can understand how they could be misinterpreted,” Erica Pelosini explained. “I’m topless, Maria is hugging him, and Rachel is also a very beautiful woman, but people are assuming the wrong things.” The assumptions have transformed into rumors that could have massive consequences on Jack Brooksbank and his wife, Princess Eugenie.
Erica still stuck to her guns, claiming that “we were there as friends and work colleagues having a wonderful afternoon in the Italian sun.” She continued, explaining that “Jack is a very dear friend of mine and I have known him for a number of years. He’s also good friends with the other two women. It’s very upsetting for me that people could be thinking the wrong things.”
Erica wasn’t the only one who defended the royal husband. Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, was appalled by the Daily Mail’s report and said that her son-in-law would never do anything that would jeopardize the relationship with his wife.
“Jack … is a man of such integrity. He’s just one of my most favorite people. I call him James Bond actually,” the Duchess of York explained to BBC One. “He’s just a superhero in my book, and he’s a great father, a fabulous husband.” She added that Jack “works as an ambassador for Casamigos, and he was on doing his job, and so, I think it’s really important that we clarify that for Jack’s sake.”
Erica Pelosini seconded the sentiment that Jack Brooksbank is an excellent husband and father. She said that during the trip “Jack was speaking about his baby and showing us pictures of him.” Erica said that August “looked adorable” and that Jack is “a very proud father. One day he told us he was very sad to be away from Princess Eugenie and his son.”
Erica Pelosini also confirmed that she tried to smooth things over with Princess Eugenie before any hard feelings were harbored. “We had a quick chat, but Jack said there’s nothing to worry about,” Erica said. “I felt that he has a strong relationship with his wife. She knows that nothing was going on She knows that he was with some female friends having fun and that she can trust him.”
