Erika Jayne was put in the hot seat during Part 1 the The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, and fans are calling for the reality TV star to be fired because of her involvement in the Tom Girardi embezzlement scandal. Even her lawyer thought she should quit the show.
“And then I said, ‘No, because I have nothing to hide.’ And they said, ‘Well, you know that this sh-t can get flipped around on you.’ Everything can be parsed, twisted, turned and yes, possibly turned against you. Whether it is true or not, it almost doesn’t even matter at this point. But I’m not a quitter and I wanted to honor my commitment. I wasn’t going to run away from what’s coming at me,” said Erika.
The RHOBH star is still maintaining her innocence and says she should not be fired. She told Just Jared, “Why should I be fired?” she asked. “Why are you presuming that I’ve done something? Why aren’t we letting the legal process play out? You’ve heard one side—and a lot of bullsh-t on that side. Give me a chance to defend myself. Watch me. I’m ready for the challenge. Watch me do it.”
Erika spent much of Season 11 complaining about her money problems amid the scandal. The reality star is being sued for $25 million by the estate of Tom Girardi and his lawyers believes that Erika should pay it back.
According to the lawyers, Tom illegally gave that money to Erika Jayne after she filed for divorce. She used the money to keep up with her lavish lifestyle.
“It would be a miscarriage of justice if [she] was allowed to simply walk completely free of owing over $25,000,000 to the estate,” said the court filing.
Recently, The New York Times published a tell-all story about Erika Jayne. According to their sources, the star makes a lot more on RHOBH then she was letting on. Erika reportedly made $600,000 for Season 11. Many fans feel Erika has been lying, that’s she’s involved in a lawsuit and should not be collecting money from Bravo.
The report also revealed that if Erika Jayne stayed on for the next season of RHOBH she could make even more money. A source close to the TV show said that with Erika being the sole focus of Season 11, they expect the star to demand more money for the upcoming season.
And there is no reason for Bravo to say no. Erika’s drama on and off camera have been increasing ratings and, of course, making the network more money.
“We have all seen Bravo ride the Girardi embezzlement scandal to historically high ratings. For the most part, Andy Cohen and Bravo have protected Erika, paying her — according to reports — as much as $600,000 to be on the show this year while allowing her to cast herself as the primary victim of Tom’s criminality,” said attorney Jason Edelson.
He continued his statement and said, “Although the reunion trailer suggests that Andy is finally going to ask the tough questions of Erika, he is strategically doing so to increase his ratings and make Bravo even more money. We believe that Bravo has a legal and moral duty to cooperate in our litigation so the true facts come out and the families of the Lion Air crash victims can get some justice.”
“If Bravo chooses delay and obstruction,” the attorney continued, “then it has officially become charter members of the increasingly large boatload of people looking to profit from the worst embezzlement scandal the legal industry has seen. This is truly a ‘put up or shut up’ moment for Bravo.”
Unless Bravo faces legal reasons for keeping Erika on the show, some fans don’t think she’ll be getting kicked off anytime soon.
Part 2 of the reunion is set to air on Oct. 20 and according to host Andy Cohen, the drama is going to be even juicier.
“The drama kept coming up because there were tentacles of the drama that involved all the other ladies. I will say, we did a big chunk of her marital drama earlier in the day, and then I would say the last 90 minutes was a very spirited conversation about the case and what’s going on,” said Cohen.
While many fans want to know more of the drama surrounding Erika Jayne and the scandal (according to Andy she reveals everything) many fans want Erika to finally apologize to the victims of the plane crash that her ex-husband stole money from.
Erika apologized during the reunion special, but fans called it weak and thought her tears were just a performance.
The reality star said, “There’s a lot of talk about me being cold and a lot of talk about me not having empathy and sympathy. The truth is I do but I’m in an almost impossible situation. And anyone who has been wronged, I want them to be made whole. I’m talking about the alleged victims of all of Tom’s alleged misdoings. And it’s important that people hear that from me.”
