Is Erika Jayne’s divorce a sham? Was there really fraud and embezzlement? The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premiere raised more questions about her relationship with her soon-to-be ex-husband Tom Girardi.

In December of 2020, Tom Girardi, 81, was accused of “stealing millions” from clients. Reports show that he withheld payments from several clients, including the class-action lawsuit in which Girardi won a massive settlement for widows and orphans that lost their family members in a plane crash.

According to the federal lawsuit against Girardi, the clients waited for months to receive the settlement money, and he failed to pay nearly $2 million to them.  It continues to say Girardi stole from “the widows and orphans who lost loved ones in the tragic crash of Lion Air Flight 610 — in order to continue funding his and Erika’s lavish Beverly Hills lifestyles.”

The news came just a few weeks after Erika Jayne, 49, announced that she filed for divorce due to “irreconcilable differences.” It seems that the RHOBH cast members are also starting to wonder what really happened.

In the RHOBH premiere, Garcelle Beauvais asks Erika whether she was tipped off about the lawsuits, asking if that was why she got divorced. Erika stared at her costar through tinted sunglasses before finally saying, “No, I did not.” The reply took her two full seconds to say.

“Orphans and widows. It makes you feel sick,” another costar, Dorit Kemsley said to Kyle Richards. Dorit spoke loud enough for Erika to hear, and Kyle turned his attention to her. “Did you know any of this?” Kyle asked. Erika Jayne denied it yet again but later exploded when Sutton Stracke got involved.

Sutton made a comment that cameras weren’t quite able to catch, but it certainly hit a nerve with Erika. The star pushed back against the fraud allegations, screaming, “I am not a liar. You have a lot of f—ing nerve!”

The lawsuit against Thomas Girardi states the Girardis’ divorce was “simply a sham attempt to fraudulently protect Tom’s and Erika’s money from those that seek to collect on debts owed by Tom and his law firm.”

Despite filing for divorce, Erika Jayne was recently seen rushing to court to object to the sale of the $16 million mansion she once shared with Girardi. She filed paperwork demanding that she be paid proceeds from the sale and is awaiting a judge’s ruling. There is no doubt that money is on Erika’s mind, but she’s doing her best to make it seem like her split was for personal reasons, not monetary ones.

She has yet to address the fact that her ex terminated her legal support in December, and how his law license was suspended after he was diagnosed with dementia. He is now under the conservatorship of his brother, yet he and Erika Jayne both remain in at least five lawsuits together.

Upcoming episodes of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will reveal more about Erika’s divorce and, hopefully, whether or not the split was truly a sham.
