Fetty Wap is mourning the loss of his daughter Lauren Maxwell, though the specifics surrounding her tragic death have been kept a secret. While it’s unclear when or how the 4-year-old girl died, her mother, Turquoise Miami, posted confirmation of her passing in a heartbreaking Instagram announcement.
“This is my amazing, beautiful, funny, vibrant, loving, talented, smart, and hardheaded princess mermaid Aquarius,” the devastated mother wrote in a lone Instagram post. “If you see this post scrolling by with her comment or just say to yourself ‘i love you LAUREN’ because they say that souls can feel your love.”
At this time, it’s not clear what happened to Lauren Maxwell. Representatives for both Wap and his ex-girlfriend Turquoise Miami have yet to comment on the tragic incident. The date of Maxwell’s death is also not confirmed, though some reports place her death sometime in June.
A report from Hot97 claims that Lauren Maxwell may have died last month and that her parents waited to make the announcement. It was also suggested on Rap-Up that Fett Wap’s daughter was sick for a while and died in her sleep. Neither parent has shared any updates regarding what happened to Lauren Maxwell. Fetty Wap has stayed silent on the matter entirely since the announcement.
After his performance at Rolling Loud, the rapper did hint at his daughter’s sickness or even recent passing. Wap dedicated his set to Maxwell, writing: “LoLo daddy did that shit for you last night baby girl.”
Since the announcement, social media has been actively supporting Turquoise Miami, sending condolences and prayers. Some users have used the announcement to bash Fetty Wap as a father. Despite their history, Wap’s ex-girlfriend defended him and their daughter.
“The internet had very negative energy towards our child which bought me distress reading, so please stop any negativity towards him,” Turquoise Miami said. “Lauren love her daddy too just like she love me and he mourning hard just like me.”
While co-parenting, Turquoise Miami wasn’t as supportive of her ex’s ways. She claimed in an Instagram post that Fetty Wap neglected his daughter and that he did not provide adequate support for Lauren Maxwell.
“Y’all I’m finna book this flight so I can personally ask this n**** when he plans to pay child support or get his daughter cause it’s been two years and I’m curious,” Maxwell’s mother wrote at the time.”I am no longer going to beg a n**** to be a dad to do all the things a dad is supposed to do.”
Fetty Wap is coping with more than just one loss at the moment. Beyond his daughter’s tragic death, Wap is mourning his younger brother who died last October. The rapper considered his late brother his twin. At the time, the “Trap Queen” rapper wrote to “stop asking me am I ok… No TF I’m not Ok.”
“I done lost so many n— that s— was almost starting to feel normal,” He added. “But lil brother man it feel like 2017 all over again this same feeling. I know ya slogan ‘don’t cry for me slide for me’ I just don’t know what ima tell my nephew when he ask me why I ain’t make sure you was ok…”
Lauren Maxwell was born on February 7, 2017. He shared the 4-year-old girl with the American model. The couple was in a relationship at the time of Maxwell’s birth but they have since broken up, according to reports.
Fetty Wap has five other children beyond Lauren Maxwell. He shares 10-year-old Aydin with Ariel Resse. He also had 6-year-old Zaviera and 2-year-old Zyheir with Lezhae Zeona. Wap also had Amani Lauren, 5, with Elaynna Parker and Khari Barbie Maxwell, 5, with Masika Kalysha.
