Confusion over the case of Gabby Petito, a missing 22-year-old girl who captured the nation’s attention, has also enamored QAnon conspiracy theory circles. According to Insider, the right-wing group’s latest forum posts include conspiracy theories claiming that Gabby Petito is a “crisis actor” used by the media to distract America from President Joe Biden’s “failures.”
Many people in QAnon groups boasting over 200,000 members have been circulating the rumors, including the belief that Gabby Petito is an “actress’ and a “false flag.” Some theories even claim that Gabby Petito never existed.
An hour after reports surfaced that Gabby Petito was declared dead based on human remains found in Wyoming, multiple lengthy comment threads began to pop up.
According to Insider, QAnon-focused Telegram channels such as GhostEzra, which boasts over 330,000 subscribers, and WeTheMedia, which has garnered over 246,000, spiraled into false theories of Gabby Petito’s non-existence.
“Somethings not right about this whole situation,” one user named SherRryWW1G wrote.
QAnon claimed that Gabby’s boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, could also be a false flag. Returning home without Gabby, Brian Laundrie is currently in hiding somewhere in Florida. Authorities have labeled his a “person of interest,” and are currently sending mass search teams throughout Florida swamps in order to apprehend him for questioning.
“This is clearly Black Ops to cover for Biden failures,” the QAnon forum user continued. “Was he ever real? Is SHE? Another false flag right before the audits.”
The “audits” being referred to, are the Maricopa County, Az. audits of the 2020 election, which have been plagued by Covid-19. Many QAnon conspiracy theory supporters falsely believe that the county was stolen for Biden over Trump, despite local Republican officials confirming that Biden won the county by more than 45,000 votes.
“This whole case was nothing but an FBI distraction, literally on every news channel,” wrote another forum user. “Is it a sleight of hand trick? Look here, not here (Arizona audit)?”
Calling large media events “distractions” and victims “crisis actors” are par for the course when it comes to QAnon conspiracy theories. Both George Floyd and the Parkland school shooting survivors were called “crisis actors” by the right-wing conspiracy group as well.
Like any QAnon conspiracy theory dissidents exist, with some members believing that Gabby Petito’s death is actually a message from Q to find Brian Laundrie and protect “crimes against children.” QAnon was born, after all, from a false theory that Hillary Clinton ran a child sex trafficking ring under a pizzeria. Oddly enough, preventing harm to children has since become a principle of the groups beliefs.
“Q said crimes against children would unite us,” one user wrote. “I believe this is all connected in a story that’s hopefully going to be mind-blowing for sleepers.”
“Appears to me that BOTH the BF AND the authorities who last saw Gabby alive could be suspects in her case,” said another. “For all we know the police who pulled them over, are as corrupt as some of these govt’ agencies like CPS, who’ve also been known to be complicit, if not directly involved in mysterious vanishings like these. (sex trafficking or blood sacrifice).”
As long as authorities go without uncovering Brian Laundrie’s location and get some answers, even more crazy theories are expected to grow online. Laundrie was last seen on Sep. 17, and is possibly hiding out in Florida’s dense natural swampland reserve.
His parents, who have been accused of protecting their son from authorities, are mysteriously silent about his potential whereabouts. Many people, aside from QAnon conspiracy theorists, believe that they are withholding pertinent information from investigators about what happened and where their son is hiding.
