Gigi Hadid and her now ex-boyfriend, singer Zayn Malik, are only thinking about a custody agreement for their baby daughter, Khai, despite the violent breakup. According to E! News, the supermodel and former One Direction singer met with lawyers this week to discuss a co-parenting solution.

The two split last week after a nasty fight involving Zayn and Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid. Zayn allegedly shoved Yolanda into a dresser and was charged with harassment. It is unclear what happened to start the fight, or why Zayn Malik escalated into violence, but the couple have been apart ever since.

“It’s a tense situation,” a source close to Gigi Hadid told E! News. “Gigi and Zayn are broken up, but intend to co-parent Khai in a peaceful and healthy environment. They are working out custody details. They are in contact over Khai and making decisions for her.”

“They both want to make sure they can sort out the custody situation with Khai and both feel entitled to custody of her,” the source continued. “They have been in communication and have been working on how they will continue to co-parent, but it’s very tense right now. They do both want what’s best for Khai and are trying to be civil.”

Yolanda Hadid is allegedly very angry with Zayn after the fight, and wants her daughter to give the singer the boot, but Gigi Hadid said that, according to a source, “her daughter needs her dad.”

Zayn Malik is under probation for the next six months, where he must complete anger management training, a domestic violence program, and have no contact with Yolanda Hadid.

Despite pleading no contest, Zayn Malik told TMZ that he “adamantly denied striking Yolanda.”

“For the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private,” he said at the time. “As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in… In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member.”

“This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press,” Zayn continued. “I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”

Fans wishing for any sort of reconciliation between the two may want to rethink the relationship however, as the on-again, off-again couple seem to be split for good following Zayn Malik’s outburst.

“The whole family wants Gigi to be done with Zayn for good,” a source told E! News. “They have seen this behavior before and think it’s unacceptable.”

Gigi Hadid and baby Khai have been staying with her sister Bella Hadid in New York City.

“Everyone is sad that things got so ugly and took this turn,” the source continued. “In every family there is drama and emotions run high, but they feel Zayn crossed a line and he needs to be accountable.”

Zayn Malik was also accused, according to People, of scuffling with the family’s security guard, and violent arguing with Gigi Hadid on the phone, since she was not present for the alleged fight.

Gigi Hadid asked for privacy during the custody agreement talks, and said that she is “solely focused on the best for Khai.”
