After Zayn Malik and Yolanda Hadid had a nasty fight, Gigi Hadid has decided to take a break from her daughter’s father. The split may only be temporary, but for now Gigi is concerned about the well-being of her baby girl Khai.
A source close to the couple confirmed the breakup and said, “They are not together right now. They are both good parents though,” a family friend told People. “They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.”
A representative for Gigi has spoken out about the incident and said that “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time,” Gigi’s rep said in a statement.
When rumors first spread about the breakup it was reported that Zayn had hit Yolanda Hadid while the two were in an argument. According to Yolanda, the singer pushed her into a dresser during their argument and also called her a “Dutch slut.”
According to reports, the 28-year-old singer exploded at his Pennsylvania home and has been charged with four counts of harassment. During the fight, Zayn reportedly screamed about his sperm and told Yolanda to stay away from his daughter.
The singer also allegedly screamed at Gigi Hadid and said, “Strap on some f–king balls and defend your partner against your f–king mother in my house.” Zayn also tried to get into a fight with a security guard on the property.
According to his plea, the former One Direction member must complete 360 days of probation while also completing anger management and domestic violence programs. He can have no contact with Yolanda or the security guard. If he follows all the rules for six months a judge will end his probation.
This new information comes just a day after Zayn denied that he had struck the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum. The singer took to social media to say that he didn’t hit Yolanda and that he didn’t appreciate that his personal business was being leaked to the press.
Zayn told TMZ, “I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.”
The singer said on social media, “As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in,” his note began. “A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart. In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”
He believes that there is some “divisiveness” in the family that effects how he co-parents and protects his daughter, Khai.
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik share 1-year-old daughter Khai together. The couple has been on-again, off-again since 2015. They confirmed their relationship after Gigi appeared in Zayn’s Pillowtalk music video.
They later broke up in June 2016 before getting back together in 2018. During quarantine, the couple confirmed that they had gotten back together and were pregnant. They celebrated the birth of their daughter in September 2020.
Following his daughter’s birth, Zayn took to Twitter and posted a touching moment. He said, “To try put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together x”
This is reportedly the first public fight between Yolanda and Zayn. According to Gigi Hadid, her former boyfriend used to take her mother’s side in family arguments.
“At first he was like, ‘How do I get a word in edgewise?’ But now he is very comfortable. He speaks his mind. When he’s in the middle of a family thing and everyone’s like, ‘Zayn, whose side are you on?’ he’s charming. He’s usually on my mom’s side, so he’s smart in that sense,” Gigi said.
