Will Gisele Bundchen start modeling again now that Tom Brady is retiring?

Once known as the highest-paid model in the world, the Brazilian fashion model, 41, gave up her career in 2015 to raise her children while her husband, Tom Brady, 44, continued to play football for another seven years.

“I think my wife has, you know, held down the house for a long time now,” The Buccaneers quarterback revealed this past October on his SiriusXM podcast Let’s Go! “And, I think there are things she wants to accomplish.”

“You know, she hasn’t worked as much in the last 10, 12 years just raising our family and kind of committing to being in a life in Boston and then moving to Florida,” he continued. “But that’s an issue, and it’s a very difficult issue to reconcile without just saying, ‘Hey, it’s time to retire.’ And I think there’s, you know, we’re coming to the end here too, so I don’t want to miss any of the kids’ stuff.”

As one door closes, however, another door opens. Now that Brady has officially announced his retirement from the NFL after 22 seasons, Gisele may have the opportunity to get her career back.

Leaving the IMG Models agency after 20 years and handing the reins over to her twin sister, Patricia, Gisele Bundchen could choose to return or continue with her new agency, The Lions. Since leaving, IMG Models has signed high-profile women such as poet Amanda Gorman and Vice President Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff.

Her husband, Tom Brady, thanked her in an Instagram tribute after announcing his retirement, citing her for her selflessness and support. He acknowledged that it wasn’t entirely fair for her to give up her career to raise the family, and that he appreciated her sacrifice “beyond words.”

“I always came off the field and home to the most loving and supportive wife who has done EVERYTHING for our family to allow me to focus on my career,” Brady wrote on Instagram. “Her selflessness allowed me to reach new heights professionally, and I am beyond words what you mean to me and our family.”

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady had two children together, Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9, as well as Jack, 14, from Brady’s former relationship with Blue Bloods actress Bridget Moynahan. Gisele was linked to actor Leonardo DiCaprio before marrying Tom Brady in 2009.

At 44 years old, Tom Brady said that it became even more difficult for Gisele to watch him take hits on the football field, and that it “pains her to see me get hit out there.”

“She deserves what she needs from me as a husband and my kids deserve what they need from me as a dad,” he stated on his podcast. “I’m gonna spend some time with them and give them what they need, because they’ve really been giving me what I need the last six months.”

“It’s not always about what I want,” he continued. “It’s about what we want as a family, and I’m gonna spend a lot of time with them and figure out in the future what’s next.”

At the height of her modeling career, Gisele Bundchen appeared on over 1,200 magazine covers, made a cameo in the film The Devil Wears Prada, and was a spokesperson for Chanel No. 5. In 2016, she also appeared in a spotlighted walk at Maracana Stadium for the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
