Heather Garcia‘s family is mourning her death after the mother of five fell off a party bus and was hit by oncoming traffic on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles. According to reports, Garcia and her family were celebrating her birthday. Police are investigating what happened to lead to her tragic death.

Witnesses say that Garcia was dancing on the bus Saturday morning around 3 a.m. when she tripped and fell into the vehicle’s door. The door opened while the bus was moving, and Garcia fell into the No. 3 Lane of the freeway and was hit by another car. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to reports, friends and family had boarded the party bus Friday evening for their celebration.

Garcia and her family and friends were celebrating a joint birthday party for her and her niece. Heather Garcia would have turned 30 on Monday. Many of her family members are angry that the almost 30-year-old died from the accident.

“They went out, got the party bus and based on the information I got, she was dancing, and she fell… and that was it,” said her brother, Juan. “I don’t know how the door opened. Nobody knows how the door opened. The door shouldn’t have opened up.”

Garcia’s husband, Rafael Corral, called the accident a nightmare fall. He is starting to deal face raising the couple’s five young children alone. The children range from age 1 to 10.

“It’s just something that is a nightmare,” Corral said. “You expect when you pay for a service so that you don’t drink and drive or do anything illegal … you get there, somebody takes you there safe, and you’re going to get back home safe because that’s what you paid for.”

Corral has set up a GoFundMe page for his family and hopes that the donations will be able to support their children’s futures and pay for Heather Garcia’s burial and funeral. So far, over $17,000 has been raised with an original goal of $50,000.

The father of five wrote a touching tribute to his late wife on the site. He said, “She had a huge heart always lending a hand to anyone who needed it. She was a great mom always taking care of our children. She loved our kids and she lived to take care of us. She was my best friend, my rock, she kept it together for me and our kids. I feel lost without her.”

The army veteran later added that he needs “help to give her the burial that she deserves as I was not prepared for a loss in such a tragic way. I am also left with so many other expenses and I will now be a mom and dad to our five children (10yrs., 8yrs., 6yrs., 5yrs., and 1yr). Heather, I will never forget you and I will always tell the kids how much you loved them every day. May God watch over us during this difficult time. May you Rest in Paradise my love, until we meet again. I would appreciate any help.”

The driver who hit the mother of five stayed on the scene and, so far, no charges have been filed. The Los Angeles police have not released a statement about the devastating death.
