Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola and Christy Giles’ causes of death have been revealed. The LA model and her friend died in November 2021 and were left outside two Los Angeles hospitals by masked men. Many believed that the two women were drugged before their deaths.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office ruled the women’s deaths as homicides and revealed that they died because of “multiple drug intoxication” and organ failure. Both women had a number of drugs in their systems.
Christy Giles had a mixture of cocaine, ketamine, fentanyl, and gamma-hydroxybutyrate acid (GHB), also known as a date rape drug. Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola had MDMA and cocaine in her system, along with other undetermined drugs.
Giles’ parents posted about their daughter’s cause of death and said that they are still fighting for justice. They said, “A huge hurtle in our daughter, Christy Lee, case was achieved this week ~ while we her family all along knew and felt strongly our baby was murdered- it is now officially listed as her cause of death! With this our prayers are the LA County DA’s Office will move quickly and swiftly on re-arresting ALL parties involved and this time PRESS THE CHARGES! Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers.”
According to police reports, Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola and Christy Giles were partying on November 13, 2021 in East Los Angeles before they were dumped at the hospitals. Giles was pronounced dead at the hospital and Cabrales-Arzola died on November 24, 2021.
During the investigation, three men were arrested in connection with the dumping of Christy Giles and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola. Police arrested David Pearce, 37, Michael Ansbach, 47, and Brandt Osborn, 42. Pearce was charged with suspicion of manslaughter, while Ansbach and Osborn were charged with accessory to manslaughter.
Police believe that Giles and Cabrales-Arzola met the three men while partying and ended up at David Pearce’s LA home. It is believed that they were supplied the drugs at the home.
Osborn’s case was rejected by the LA County District Attorney’s Office and the 42-year-old’s arrest was reduced to detention. Ansbach was never officially charged with accessory to manslaughter.
David Pearce was also charged with four counts of rape for sexual assault incidents that took place from 2010 to 2020. The 37-year-old was charged with sexual penetration with a foreign object, one count of rape of an unconscious person and two counts of forcible rape. In January 2022, he pled not guilty to the four charges.
After the three men’s arrests, Christy Giles‘ husband, Jan Cilliers, spoke to People about his wife’s death. He said, “I sighed a sigh of relief. But I also understand that this is just the beginning of the battle. There’s going to be a lot of stuff to get through in order to get these guys in prison.”
“I know that I have to be strong, and I’m going to do everything that I can to make sure that my wife gets the justice she deserves, even though no amount of justice is ever going to bring her back to life, and she’s still going to be gone,” he continued. “But hopefully, it stops these guys from doing anything else to any other woman.”
