Ireland Baldwin, model and daughter of Alec Baldwin, was slammed on social media this week for posting photos in a bloody Halloween costume that critics are calling “tone-deaf” following her father’s involvement in a fatal prop gun shooting on the set of Rust last month.
Ireland, 26, posted photos on Instagram Monday, in which she and her boyfriend appeared smiling, covered in fake blood.
“So we stayed in for Halloween this year. There are reporters and paparazzi hanging out all over my street being super fun and invading all my privacy which is always a good time,” she wrote.
“We didn’t think we would celebrate, but we found some old costumes and blood, ate really good food, drank tequila, had a couple friends over, watched a scary movie and had 0 trick or treaters,” Baldwin added.

Ireland Baldwin Slammed as ‘Insensitive,’ ‘Tone-Deaf’
Critics on social media were quick to bring up her father’s role in the deadly, accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, which occurred a little more than two weeks before Ireland Baldwin posted the photos.
Ireland appeared to be dressed in a school girl uniform with fake blood dripping down her face. Her boyfriend, a Portuguese musician whose stage name is RAC, was dressed in a white button-up with fake blood spattered across his neck and down his torso.

Critics said the bloody Halloween costume was inappropriate, in light of Hutchins’ death.
“It’s like I’m living in a f— simulation where everyone is doing the most inappropriate thing possible,” said one Reddit user. “There are literally a billion other possible Halloween costumes. There is also an option not to post this s— online. How tone-deaf can you be?!”
“I feel like I’m taking crazy pills, what the hell is wrong with these people?” another user asked.
Some argued that Ireland Baldwin wasn’t wrong to celebrate Halloween, but should’ve kept her costume off of Instagram.
“At the end of the day, I’m just still unsure why any of them are seeing the need to share any of the costumes they choose,” one commenter wrote. “It just looks disrespectful. Do what you do at home, but maybe pull back on social media.”
Others, still, said that the 26-year-old had done nothing wrong.
“Why wouldn’t it be okay?” said another Reddit user. “She and her boyfriend had nothing to do with what happened.”

Not Ireland Baldwin’s First Problematic Costume
The contentious Halloween costume that Ireland Baldwin posted this week was not the first to land her in hot water.
In 2013, the then-18-year-old was under fire for a Native American Halloween costume, which critics at the time slammed as racist and stereotypical.

In that instance, Ireland said she was (somewhat) sorry for the “insensitive” costume.
“I apologize if my Halloween costume offended you and your culture PERSONALLY. However, I don’t apologize to a majority… Of you who thought it was necessary to return the favor with a lot of hateful mentions,” she reportedly wrote on Twitter in 2013.
This year, Ireland Baldwin offered no apology to her social media critics.
She and RAC were spotted unrepentantly walking their dogs in Portland, Oregon Sunday, a few hours after the photos were posted, according to the Daily Mail.
Ireland Famously Feuded with Alec
Ireland, the daughter of Alec Baldwin and actress Kim Basinger, was first in the spotlight in 2007.
During her parents’ divorce proceedings, a voicemail leaked in which Alec called then-11-year-old Ireland a “rude, thoughtless little pig.”
The recording was the subject of intense backlash and public scrutiny, and Alec Baldwin later said he had considered suicide after the voicemail leaked.
