Jake Davison was identified as the gunman in the deadly Plymouth shooting. Davison opened fire killing five people including a “very young girl” before committing suicide. The fatal incident Thursday is the country’s first mass shooting since 2010.

First responders arrived on the scene at around 6:10 p.m. local time after a report of a “serious firearms incident” in Biddick Drive, in Keyham, Plymouth. Authorities found two women and two men dead at the scene. Officers attempted to stabilize another woman who suffered multiple gunshot wounds but she later died of her injuries.

Police identified the shooter as 22-year-old Jake Davison during a Friday morning press conference. According to Devon and Cornwall Police Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer, Davison went on a shooting spree in multiple locations. The shooter first opened fire in a home on Biddick Drive in Keyham, killing a woman he knew. Sawyer claimed that there was “a familiar relationship as we understand it,” but they have not confirmed the exact relationship.

Police identified Jake Davison as the gunmen in the deadly Plymouth shooting. Authorities are trying to determine what happened leading up to the attack and why the "Incel" killed 5 people and himself.

Davison then left the home and proceeded to shoot and kill a very young girl and her male relative. Walking down the road Jake Davison shot two more victims who were said to be in the hospital in stable condition. The gunman then entered a local park where he killed a man and shot a woman who died in the hospital. He ended the spree by turning the gun on himself, authorities said.

Sawyer explained that “this was a truly shocking event, and was witnessed by members of the public.” Eyewitnesses claimed Jake Davison used a pump-action shotgun for the killing spree. Investigators have not identified the firearm used but have recovered the weapon and are analyzing it, reports claim. While police have not yet identified a motive is the Plymouth shooting, investigators are trying to determine why Davison opened fire.

“We believe we have an incident that is domestically related that has spilled into the streets and seen several people within Plymouth losing their lives in an extraordinarily tragic circumstance,” Shaun Sawyer explained. Police are investigating what happened in the Plymouth home just before Davison opened fire. It is unclear if the man originally sought to execute the woman or if the shooting was sparked by a disagreement.

Investigators are still not sure whether Jake Davison was intending to conduct a deadly mass shooting or if the events unfolded at random. Authorities are looking into all avenues, including the shooter’s social media account.

It was reported that Jake Davison was a YouTuber with many followers. His content has since been removed from the video-sharing platform. Shaun Sawyer confirmed that Davison “is on social media, and that will be part of the investigation.” Reports claimed his content was “pro-Trump” and that he often posted videos where he rambled about the “Incel” movement.

He is reportedly an advocate of Incel TV, an online support group for “involuntary celibates.” The group is linked to male supremacy and misogyny. Members of this group have gone on the plan and execute deadly attacks. In July, a member of the Incel movement and an “involuntary celibate” plotted to slaughter 3,000 women in a mass shooting targeting sorority members at an Ohio College.

Police pleaded with the public not to “speculate or share pictures of the scene on social media or anywhere else.” The Plymouth shooting is still under investigation.

Luke Pollard, a member of parliament for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, tweeted that the incident was “just so unspeakably awful.” He continued, saying that my condolences and thoughts are with the families. I’m utterly devastated that one of the people killed in the #keyham shooting was a child under ten years old.” Reuters reported that the young girl was 3 years old.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a statement that his “thoughts are with the friends and family of those who lost their lives and with all those affected by the tragic incident in Plymouth last night.”

Mass shootings in the UK are exceptionally rare. The country has some of the world’s strictest gun control laws. The country’s last mass shooting was in 2010. Gun deaths, in general, are also extremely rare. Few people own guns and fewer carry them, including police officers. Though the American populous sees hundreds of mass shootings in the country each year, the Plymouth mass shooting is especially shocking for UK residents.
