James Corden was granted a restraining order today after filing in fear of an obsessed female fan who has reportedly been stalking him for months.
The 30-year-old woman is now forbidden from coming within 100 yards of The Late Late Show comedian or his family, after complaining outside his home of her plans to marry him.
Over the past few months, James Corden, 42, revealed that the crazed fan tried to visit him on set, and even camped out in front of his private residence in Los Angeles for over six days in her car during the summer. She only left once the authorities were called, but why did he left her stay out there for six days?
The Late Late Show host told the court that he became fearful of the stalker once she started claiming that his wife of nine years, Julia Corden, “stole” him from her, and that her and James had plans to go to Vegas and get married. He was also concerned about how she was able to find is home in Los Angeles, Ca.
Even more disturbing: court documents alleged that she started wanting his wife Julia “out of the picture” so that the two could be together.
Disturbed by the stalker’s escalation, James Corden filed for the restraining order in order to protect his family, and his three kids -Max, 10, Carey, 6, and Charlotte, 3.
On Thursday, the judge granted his family the temporary restraining order against the alleged stalker.
Speaking on Tuesday about his relationship with his wife on The Late Late Show, James Corden said that, “Jules and I never went on dates.”
“The night we met, we talked about how we were both bored of going out all the time and that we were going out too much, and we were drinking too much and having too good of a time,” he recalled. “As a joke, [we] planned the rest of our lives together.”
“I was like, ‘How many children are we going to have? Are we going to have a dog?,'” he continued. “At the end of the night, we had a little sort of smooch in the back of a cab. And I said, ‘What are you doing on Saturday night? Do you want to stay in and do nothing? And then we could also do nothing on Sunday night. And then if you want to, we can go to work and do nothing on Monday and we could do nothing on Tuesday. And then my hunch is if we do enough nothing, then that nothing might become something. And how do you feel about that?'”
The couple got engaged shortly after and has been happily married since 2012.
In an interview with People magazine, James Corden spoke about his three kids, calling fatherhood “an amazing thing.”
“There’s two things that happen when you have a child,” he explained. “One is you don’t really realize the depth of love that you could feel for someone you’ve just met. And you also realize the indifference of your friends who don’t have kids.”
“When people used to show me photos of their kid, I’d be like, ‘Yeah, dude, it’s a kid. I get it. Well done. Loads of people have got them,'” he joked. “Now, I’m like, ‘Aw.'”
James Corden just appeared in the jukebox musical remake of Cinderella for Amazon, where he played one of the Disney princess’ talking mice. He was also one of the producers of the film, which apparently was his idea.
Appearing alongside James for his Late Late Show “Carpool Karaoke” segment on Wednesday night, Cinderella stars Camila Cabello, Idina Menzel, and Billy Porter performed songs from the streaming service musical.
