Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard may soon reunite with the Duggar family after a long time away. Jinger Duggar and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, are hopeful that the transition will happen soon.
Jinger and Jeremy have been supportive of Jill and Derick’s decision to remove themselves from the enormous family, and despite the tension and drama between many members, Jinger and Jill remain bonded.
Us Weekly reported that the 19 Kids and Counting alum, Jinger Duggar, and the retired soccer star, Jeremy Vuolo have recently connected with Jill and her husband, despite the distance between them.
The decision to leave occurred ahead of the Season 7 premiere of 19 Kids and Counting, which aired in 2018 and Jill and Derick haven’t looked back since.
“We found out we didn’t have as much control over our lives as it related to the show and stuff, as we needed,” the Duggar explained in a YouTube Q&A. “We had to make a decision at that time to kind of put the show aside … to pursue our own goals and everything. That’s when we made that decision.”
The couple went on to describe the situation and their decision to leave as “really difficult” but that it was “something we knew that we really needed to do for our family.”
Apparently, Derick and his wife did not see eye to eye with everyone involved with the show, and we “put between a rock and a hard place where we had to choose between our family goals over family.” According to Derick, their leaving “was in the best interest” of their “family goals.”
“We will not go back on the show under the circumstances we were under when we left,” Derick confirmed at the time. Since then, there has been tension with a few of their Duggar relatives.
“There’s been some distancing there,” Jill, a mother of two, said. “We’re not on the best terms with some of my family. We’ve had some disagreements, but we’re working toward healing definitely and restoration, but we’re having to kind of just take some time and heal.”
At the time, they were confident about their choice to leave. But they see things a bit differently now. “They’re working through some things,” Jeremy Vuolo explained to Us Weekly. “We’re giving them their time to do that … but we’ve got a great relationship [with them].”
He added that “you always hope that families are united and, you know, the family is strong. There’s going to be difficulties in every family [and] I think that’s part of being in the public eye. So many families go through different issues, especially as children are growing [up], and this family happens to be in the public spotlight. And so, they work through it.”
The tension between Jill, her husband, and the enormous Duggar family is still not over yet, and the long road back will be hard.
Still, Vuolo and his wife are “definitely hoping” that the Duggars will sort out their drama. “We love them very much,” the soccer star explained. “And I know they love the family.”
Jinger Duggar maintains her husband’s lighthearted spirit. She noted that she FaceTimes with her older sister a lot, giving their children the ability to interact.
Nevertheless, the sisters aren’t always on the same page. In March, Jill revealed that she hasn’t visited the “big house” in a few years. “We’d like for it not to stay that way but that’s where we are now,” Jill admitted in a YouTube video with Jeremy. But for now, the two are focusing on their “mental and emotional health.”
