Josh Duggar was arrested on Thursday, and he is currently being held in an Arkansas detention center without bail. Federal law enforcement arrested Duggar in Washington County after a nearly two-year investigation into the 19 Kids and Counting alum. The arrest arrives just days after his wife, Anna, revealed she is pregnant with their 7th child.

Back in November 2019, Homeland Security agents were reportedly investigating a used car dealership where Duggar works. The agents raided the Springfield dealership, searching Duggar’s office in connection to a federal probe.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released Josh Duggar’s mugshot. He is seen unshaved, disheveled, but wearing a strange smirk.

While fans of the 19 Kids and Counting family are wondering what happened, thus far no further details have been released regarding his arrest. During the first stage of the investigation into the car dealership, Duggar is employed at, a spokesperson for the family explained that no “member of our family is the target of any investigation of any kind.”

The spokesperson continued, saying that “living a life in the public’s eye has taught us that it is best not to reply to every rumor and piece of ‘fake news’ that is circulated online. It would be a full-time job if we attempted to do so.”

Regarding Josh Duggar’s current charges, a source to The Sun that the arrest is connected to the 2019 raid, and that “The family has known that this has been coming for weeks, and Josh has been preparing himself.”

The source added that “family members are extremely concerned by what is happening and they just want to find [what happened].”

Josh Duggar’s arrest comes merely days after he and his wife posted an Instagram video that went viral. On Friday, Anna, and Josh Duggar announced the sex of their seventh child with a slow-mo confetti drop – their six children ran into frame from behind.

While the post went viral, Anna’s comments made headlines as she clapped back at a fan questioning Josh’s ability to be a good husband. “How do you afford all those kids? Does Josh even work?” the Instagrammer commented.

“How does he afford all those kids?” another comment said. “And then afford the other kids from his other “families” he has with his mistresses? And still able to afford the alcohol he drinks every day and night?”

Anna responded to the many nasty words: “Yes, my husband is a diligent worker and provides well for our family.”

Anna defended her husband despite a slew of controversy and scandals, pinning Josh Duggar as a cheater and a child molester. His actions were a primary cause of the cancelation of 19 Kids and Counting, as allegations surfaced that he inappropriately touched his younger sisters and a babysitter.

The child molestation allegation surfaced in 2015, and it claimed that the eldest Duggar son molested five girls back in 2002. Duggar was 14 years old at the time. He reportedly fondled the breasts and genitals of the females, and his 2006 interview with Oprah Winfrey was canceled after someone called and warned the production company about his actions.

In August of that same year, hackers released Josh Duggar’s information (along with millions of other users) through the infidelity website Ashley Madison. He later admitted to cheating on his wife, Anna, who was the mother of four at the time.

Josh Duggar subsequently spent time in rehab. In a statement, he explained his actions and begged for forgiveness: “I have been the biggest hypocrite ever … I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain, and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him. I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Please pray for my precious wife Anna and our family during this time.”
