19 Kids and Counting fans are starting to wonder why Anna Duggar stays with her husband. Josh Duggar was charged with possession of child pornography. The details reveal why he was arrested on Thursday in Washington County. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s oldest son pled “not guilty.”

“We appreciate your continued prayers for our family at this time. The accusations brought against Joshua today are very serious,” Jim Bob and Michelle said in a statement.

“It is our prayer that the truth, no matter what it is, will come to light, and that this will all be resolved in a timely manner. We love Josh and Anna and continue to pray for their family.”

Legal documents claim that the eldest Duggar son knowingly received child porn in May 2019 and that he possessed crude images of minors under 12. He faces one count each of receiving and possessing child pornography and was charged by indictment on Thursday.

If Josh Duggar is convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines for each count. He was ordered to surrender all material related to the case, including electronic equipment with storage capacity. He appeared before a judge via Zoom, pleading not guilty on all accounts. Duggar called into the Western District of Arkansas Federal Court from jail Friday.

The reality star will remain in jail until a court hearing next week determines if he will be granted bail. If Duggar is released, he is required to stay with a third-party attendant and no unsupervised minors will be allowed in the home.

Duggar has six kids and one on the way with his wife Anna Duggar. He will not be allowed any unsupervised time with his children if released. His trial is scheduled for July.

Federal agents arrested Duggar in Washington County after a two-year investigation. Homeland Security reportedly raided Duggar’s place of work in 2019 – a used car dealership – but the reason was unknown at the time. The raid was connected to a federal probe, but the manner of the investigation was not revealed. At the time, a spokesperson for the family explained that no “member of our family is the target of any investigation of any kind.”

After Duggar was arrested Thursday, a source to The Sun that “the family” knew the arrest was “coming for weeks.” The source also confirmed that “Josh had been preparing himself” and “family members are extremely concerned … and just want to find out [what happened].”

Josh Duggar and his wife, Anna, released a viral video on Instagram. Last week Friday, the couple announced the sex of their seventh child, recording a slow-mo video of the couple releasing colored confetti as their six other kids run into the frame from behind.

The video sparked controversial comments blasting the couple. “How do you afford all those kids?” one Instagrammer commented. “Does Josh even work?”

Unfounded at the time, Anna quickly responded to the nasty comments: “Yes, my husband is a diligent worker and provides well for our family.”

Anna’s husband has been the center of several scandals throughout his time in the spotlight. One scandal caused the cancelation of 19 Kids and Counting. It is believed the oldest son molested his younger sisters back in 2002. While fans were outraged at his actions, Josh Duggar remains close with his parents and siblings.

In 2015, Josh Duggar was part of another major scandal, as proof of infidelity surfaced after a hack into Ashley Madison. He confessed, explaining that he has “been the biggest hypocrite ever.”
