Kristin Evans, the ex-girlfriend of embattled former NFL running back Zac Stacy, was accused by her ex of creating a staged attack.

Stacy, 30, was charged with domestic battery after a video surfaced that appeared to depict him violently attacking Evans in front of their 5-month-old son.

On Monday, footage showing the imprisoned athlete tell investigators that Evans “staged” the video to discredit him, because she was “bitter” that Stacy wanted to end their relationship, was released by TMZ

Hours after Stacy’s comments were made public, Evans slammed her ex, saying: “for one, I don’t know how you can stage getting your a— beat.”

Zac Stacy: Kristin Evans Staged Attack

In bodycam footage from the police officers who arrested Stacy last month, Stacy can be heard telling authorities that the brutal attack depicted in the infamous video was “all staged.”

“It’s just a case of just bitterness, man,” the former New York Jet said. “That’s why she did this. The whole assault thing, she staged it. She set me up.”

He continued: “The whole thing was staged. All she’s trying to do is get money out of me. She got a reaction out of me […] This is just a case of, this girl is just bitter that I don’t want to be with her, and she’s just trying to destroy my whole reputation because of this s—t.”

Stacy alleged to police that Evans knew he had just been released from a treatment clinic and that she intentionally provoked him while he was at an emotional low point.

“It’s unfortunate because I just got out of rehab for anxiety and depression like eight months ago,” he told the police. “I dropped everything to come down here [to Florida, from Tennessee] and support the mother of my child in her last trimester, and the baby. I let her know I wasn’t trying to be with her or nothing like that.”

“She knew I was down, she knew I was going through anxiety and depression,” he told the officers. “She knew I was trying to close this gap that’s between me and my son and she’s just upset that she got caught and she’s upset I’m not taking care of him like she expected. And now she took it this far.”

“She staged it,” he concluded. “She set me up.”

The 30-year-old retired football player was booked into an Orange County, Florida jail on charges of domestic battery and criminal mischief after the video ended. He was eventually released on bail. The judge ordered that he cease all contact with Kristin Evans, that he cannot own any firearms, and that he should stay out of Florida except to attend his court dates, according to local reports.

Kristin Evans Claps Back

In a brief video message released just after Stacy’s bizarre comments came to light, Kristin Evans said her ex was “playing victim.”

“This is what abusers do,” she said. “They will make you seem like you’re the crazy one and that they’re the victim.”

Evans said the reactions of arresting officers in the video were even more frustrating than her ex’s comments.

“It really makes me more upset that the cops are consoling him, telling him to breathe,” she said. “Everything about this makes me uncomfortable.”

Though Zac Stacy accused ex Kristin Evans of contriving a 'staged attack' to ruin his reputation, she has previously provided evidence that seems to support her account.
