What happened between LeBron James and his former teammate Tristan Thompson? The Los Angeles Lakers had a great night on Tuesday with a 122-114 win over the Sacramento Kings. But the yelling and cursing that happened that night left fans talking about something else entirely.

After his amazing night, LeBron James went to Tristan Thompson on the Kings’ bench and yelled, “I’m a motherf—ing problem, b—h.” A former teammate for over four years, Tristan Thompson did not take the court in Tuesday’s matchup, but returned LeBron’s heated insult with disdain and shock.

Fans were confused about what happened to set off such an outburst as LeBron James made an and-1 layup to put the Lakers up 118-112, but TMZ reported that the curses thrown at the Kings bench were probably not a personal jab as Tristan directly.

The two are actually close friends, even after they both left the Cleveland Cavaliers’ championship-winning team, leading many to question the feud or why the two would have been fighting. LeBron and Tristan played together for four years from 2014-2018, alongside Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert.

One of the announcers at the game stated that LeBron “looked right at him,” referring to Tristan, but that there was probably no malice in the words – just friendly, competitive rivalry. Many fans believed that LeBron James was simply heated in the moment, especially since any game between California-based rivals gets the crowd extra-excited.

Sports analysts were also surprised by how well the NBA legend has been playing despite just turning 37 years old on Dec. 30, finishing the game Tuesday night with an impressive 31 points for the win.

Tristan Thompson seemed to still take offense by the words, however, exacerbating an already bad week for the former 2016 NBA champ.

Aside from being benched by the Kings for the entire game (and failing to score a single basket in last Sunday night’s game against the Miami Heat), Tristan was also forced to issue a major apology on Tuesday to his ex-girlfriend, Khloe Kardashian.

The NBA player apologized to Khloe after it was revealed through a paternity test that he had indeed fathered a child with another woman while he was cheating on the reality television star.

The baby mama, Maralee Nichols, is a fitness model who recently came forward stating that Tristan refused to accept full responsibility for his actions until the paternity test came through, and that she could finally speak to the public since his paternity lawsuit was dropped in court.

“Now that paternity has been established, I look forward to amicably raising our son,” Tristan Thompson said in an official statement. “I sincerely apologize to everyone I’ve hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both publicly and privately.”

“Khloe, you don’t deserve this,” he continued. “You don’t deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don’t deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you.”

The celebrity couple had one daughter together, True, 3, before splitting over the summer due to infidelity rumors.

“I have the utmost respect and love for you,” Tristan said to Khloe in his apology. “Regardless of what you may think. Again, I am so incredibly sorry.”

Social media reactions to Tristan’s apology and poor basketball stats this season quickly accumulated on Twitter Tuesday night, with fans complaining that the NBA star trends now for everything but basketball.

“Tristan Thompson be playing Khloe better than he plays his own damn sport,” one fan quipped.

Khloe has yet to comment about Tristan’s apology, though once claimed that she would “never” take him back. According to a source from the Daily Mail, she is currently single and “can’t imagine dating right now.”
