Lilly and Smaller McCann’s family paid tribute Wednesday after the 4-year-old and 10-year-old were killed in a horrific car crash Monday night. Lilly, 4, and Smaller, 10, died in a suspected drunk driving accident when their vehicle smashed in between a lorry and a car in Buckinghamshire.
Their family said the children were beloved by many despite their young ages. Reports say Lilly and Smaller McCann had just finished celebrating Smaller’s 10th birthday part when the tragic accident occurred. Police say a 35-year-old Derby resident is suspected of driving while intoxicated. The woman was arrested for causing death by dangerous driving and driving over the legal limit.
The 35-year-old’s HGV collided with Lilly and Smaller McCann’s white Vauxhall Astra. The drunk driving accident occurred late Monday night on the M1 northbound highway between “junctions” 14 and 15. Police said that there were two others injured in the Vauxhall Astra. The Astra’s driver and another child passenger were taken to a nearby hospital but have already been discharged. It wasn’t clear if the siblings’ parent was the driver.
Sergeant Dominic Mahon from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Bicester is the investigating officer for the fatal crash. Mahon said that “my thoughts remain with the family of the two children who sadly died at this extremely difficult time.”
He added that “we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this collision or anyone who may have dash-cam footage that may have captured what happened or either of the vehicles prior to the collision to please get in touch.”
The devastated family who lost two beautiful children in the drunk driving accident took to Facebook Wednesday to pay tribute to the beloved siblings. Lilly and Smaller McCann were “beautiful angels,” according to their friends and family. Many in the Buckinghamshire community are grieving the devastating loss.
“Life is cruel to take them away from my lovely brother,” one family member wrote. They added that their brother was the “best old father in the world” and that “he put them first no matter how hard he hit they were his life please god give him the strength.”
“RIP my perfect little niece and nephew,” Lilly and Smaller McCann’s aunt wrote on Facebook. “Aunt Elizabeth’s old pet Smaller and me little frilly Lilly. Love you always and forever and never in this lifetime will you ever be forgotten, always loved.”
Shannon, a friend of the family, posted two pictures of the siblings side by side. “I genuinely am in shock this little boy never use to leave my trailer when he’d stay in Manchester the cleverest little boy I can’t believe it rest in perfect peace,” the woman wrote, referencing Smaller McCann. “Rest in Peace the both of you Smaller and Lilly McCann.”

Other friends wrote touching sendoffs for the young children. “Mortal divine RIP beautiful angels,” a friend of the family wrote. “So sorry for your loss, their poor mommy and daddy.”

I love you so much this doesn’t even feel real. What has this world come to, hearts in bits. RIP my babies.”
