Lindsay Partridge, a 22-year old New Hampshire woman vacationing in Boca Raton with her boyfriend, was suddenly killed after she was knocked off their boat by a big wave.

The couple was on a romantic trip in Florida when a huge wave approached, just a quarter mile off the coast of Boca Raton. Her boyfriend Jacob Smith, 24, dove into the waters to save her, but she was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

“The best way to describe Lindsey is she was young, wild and free,” her best friend Alyson Mallinder told The Sun. She had sent her pictures from their trip on Snapchat just before leaving the beach.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Law Enforcement is investigating the incident, according to Boston 25 News. Investigators believe that Lindsay Partridge suffered trauma to the back of her head as her boyfriend struggled to get her back to shore.

Lifeguards at Boca Beach Club helped transport her to first responders, and later issued a small craft advisory notice for the surrounding area.

“Any boat smaller than 30 feet shouldn’t be out there and she rented a 23-foot boat,” Lindsay’s grieving father, Donald Partridge, told local reporters. “It’s not her first time. She’s familiar with boats, she knows boats a little bit, but they went out and a big wave hit him and I guess she was thrown from the boat.”

“She was fearless and definitely a spitfire. She made everyone feel loved. She could’ve just met you, but she made you feel like you’ve been friends for 30 years,” he continued. “She was the substance that kept everyone together. She never let too much time pass before she visited you. It’s like she knew and had to make sure every moment counted.”

Lindsay Partridge’s parents had just spoken with her 15 minutes before the boat accident occurred. They then received a call from Florida police telling them to pull their car to the side of the road because they had bad news to share.

“They said shut off the car Donny we need to talk it’s about Lindsey,” her father recalled. “I have an Officer on the phone from Florida who’s going to tell you a series of events that happened.”

“‘Is she OK?'” he remembered asking. “‘No, she died,'” officers responded.

The 22-year-old Lindsay Partridge was a sales consultant at a Toyota dealership in Nashua, New Hampshire, according to the company’s social media page.

Releasing a statement, Toyota said that Lindsay was “a presence who brightened every room she walked into” and “a beautiful soul who will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.”

Lindsay’s boyfriend Jacob Smith, distraught over the incident, has yet to speak to the press about the devastating accident.

Her mother, Jessie Partridge, added that the family has just been “crying a lot” since receiving the tragic news, adding that Lindsay led a “full life.”

“She was my best friend,” her sister Chelsea told local reporters.

A GoFundMe page set up for the family has since raised $22,775 for funeral costs, as friends and strangers donate to help the Partridges in their time of need.

“We all loved Lindsey she was a kind, happy, fun-spirited girl who brightened every room she walked into,” the GoFundMe page read. “Our family is devastated and she will be missed forever.”
