Lindsey Pearlman, an actress who appeared in episodes of Empire and General Hospital, was found dead in her car in a Los Angeles neighborhood last week.
Her autopsy was completed Tuesday, though the results remain sealed as an investigation continues, according to media reports. No official cause or manner of death has been revealed.
Pearlman was reported missing last Wednesday and was last seen alive the previous day. She was found dead in her vehicle on Friday. She was 43 years old.
Lindsey Pearlman Found Dead
The missing persons poster mocked up by Los Angeles police and circulated online by loved ones said she left home in her 2015 Honda Fit and never came back home.
On Wednesday, LA authorities declared the 43-year-old officially missing and solicited information from the public on her possible whereabouts. The missing persons poster did not reveal circumstances of her disappearance, or whether investigators believed she was in physical danger.
On Thursday, the actress’ cousin Savannah Pearlman wrote on Twitter that Lindsey’s phone was “last pinged” somewhere on LA’s Sunset Boulevard.
“If you are a friend of Lindsey’s and you know anywhere she might go during a mental health crisis (parks, hiking, ocean, etc), please contact LAPD’s Missing Person’s Unit at 213-996-1800,” Savannah posted the following day.
Just hours later, Lindsey was found unresponsive in her Honda parked near the entrance to hiking trail Runyon Canyon Park — just a few blocks from Sunset Boulevard. She was soon declared dead.
“UPDATE: I’m deeply sad to report that they have found Lindsey, and it was too late,” her cousin wrote in a Twitter post. “I have no other information about the location or circumstance.”
“Lindsey was a fierce animal advocate and a talented actress. Please consider a donation to @SanteDOr in her honor,” Savannah continued. “Please know that you are never truly alone. Lindsey’s sister has asked that we share the National Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-8255.”
Autopsy Results Sealed
Days later, on Tuesday, LA officials announced that Pearlman’s autopsy was complete.
However, a cause and manner of death were “not confirmed,” as her case was “deferred pending further investigation,” the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner told People magazine.
It’s not clear why the investigation was deferred, or to whom, and officials have given no timeline for a release of autopsy results. The coroner’s office did confirm that Pearlman is believed to have died on Friday, the same day her body was found.
“The police found Lindsey. She’s gone,” he reportedly wrote, adding, “I’m broken.”
Michael Chiaverini, a representative for the late actress, issued a statement to the magazine after news of her death broke last week.
“We are deeply saddened by Lindsey Pearlman’s passing today,” he wrote. “The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time while they process and grieve.”
Friend and fellow actress Elaine Hendrix of Dynasty fame took to Twitter on Friday to commemorate Pearlman’s passing.
“Thank you to everyone who shared Lindsey’s missing person report. I’m deeply saddened & stunned to share that she was found deceased,” Hendrix said. “There’s no further info to share at this time. Pls send her friends & family love.”
According to her IMDb page, Pearlman appeared in a 2015 episode of Empire and later took recurring roles on General Hospital, The Ms. Pat Show, and Vicious.
