Lori Wickelhaus, former MTV reality star, has been sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for child porn charges. She pleaded guilty to the charges and the judge has ordered her to receive mental health counseling.

The 28-year-old was originally charged and arrested with 20 counts of “possession of a matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance,” in August of last year. She was released on a $10,000 bond.

In September of last year, she pleaded not guilty to all charges. She changed her plea to guilty on May 10 2021 when she was scheduled to appear in front of a jury.

She was scheduled to appear in court again on June 30, 2021, but instead was arrested for contempt of court. It is unknown why she was arrested under this charge, but a clerk for the Campbell County Court in Kentucky says that she could have missed her court hearing or was disrespectful to the judge.

In a mugshot taken after her arrest, the former reality star seems to be crying. She stares solemnly into the camera with big smudges of mascara around her eyes.

After being arrested for contempt of court she pled guilty to the child pornography charges.

Police became aware of the child pornography after a tip from the Kentucky State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The tip identified an unknown person that was trying to upload child pornography to a Dropbox account. When they searched Wickelhaus’ devices they found the child pornography on an iPhone and a laptop.

This is not the first time that Lori Wickelhaus has been arrested. The 28-year-old was arrested in 2018 for theft and failure to appear in court.

Wickelhaus originally appeared in the second season of the MTV show 16 and Pregnant. During the season, she and her boyfriend at the time, Cory Haskett, were deciding whether to give their son up for adoption.

Wickelhaus’ own parents pushed for adoption. Baby Aidan was given up for adoption and Wickelhaus said that her decision affected her tremendously. “After my pregnancy, I hit a rough spot,” Wickelhaus said. “I couldn’t really get over that I had done an open adoption with my son. I wasn’t working. I quit going to school. I knew I needed a change.”

The former reality star said that she battled with depression after giving up her son and eventually leaving the MTV show. She spent some time at Q&A Associates in West Virginia in 2012, which is a transitional program for adults. She says that the program helped her with her depression.

After leaving the show, Wikelhaus went on to have two other children. She welcomed a son and a daughter in 2013 and 2014 respectively with her ex-fiancé, Joseph Amos.

Lori Wickelhaus reportedly has a new boyfriend, 46-year-old Kentucky native Michael Cole. The pair started dating back in August 2020 after she was originally charged with 20 counts of child porn possession.
