Lourdes Leon, Madonna’s daughter, showed everyone at the Met Gala that she’s very much a grown-up. The 24-year-old model shocked fans by wearing an outfit – sparkly bra included – that spotlighted her curvy figure and armpit hair.
The dress was designed by Jeremy Scott and featured a bright pink halter top that showed off her midriff and a matching pink skirt that was covered head to toe in sequins. Her long black hair was kept sleek down her back and she wore silver heels to tie the ensemble together. While walking the carpet, Lourdes was even able to show off her thick armpit hair to photographers.
This year’s Met Gala theme was “America: A Lexicon of Fashion” and many of the celebrities attending wore outfits that shocked photographers and had many viewers taking to social media to figure out how the stars interpreted America.
Madonna’s daughter, who likes to go by Lola, is not a stranger to the fashion world and loves to make a statement. In a modeling campaign for Marc Jacobs, the young model famously showed off her armpit hair in photographs. The campaign featured brightly colored tote bags and fun patterns. The company said that they couldn’t have been happier with Lourdes Leon being the face of their campaign.
They said, “Marc has a long-storied history with Madonna and so it only made sense for us to tap Lola to be the face of the campaign as she perfectly encapsulates the youthful spirit and uncompromising sense of individuality central to this younger expression of the brand.”
Before making her Met Gala debut last night, the young model was a part of another big brand photoshoot. Lourdes was one of a handful of models who were featured in the September Vogue issue.
Called Generation America: The Models Changing an Industry, the issue focused on young models like Lourdes Leon and Bella Hadid, who represent the future and diversity of American modeling. During the issue, Lourdes opened up about how she has created her own life away from her mother.
The 24-year-old told Vogue that she paid for her own college education and even decided to live in Bushwick, New York, away from the Hollywood scene. “People think I’m this talentless rich kid who’s had everything given to her, but I’m not,” Lourdes said.
At the age of 24, Lourdes also became the face of the Swarovski Crystal Collection II Campaign. The crystal company said that this campaign would “serve as a platform for representation of people from all cultures and orientations.”
During the photo shoot, Lourdes gave a very early 2000s vibe to her photos by wearing a halter top and low-rise jeans that showed off her stomach. The model was covered in Swarovski crystals and even had tiny gems in her teeth.
The Vogue cover and Swarovski campaign are not the only modeling jobs that Lourdes Leon has been a part of. The 24-year-old has modeled for campaigns such as Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, Parade x Juicy Couture, and Gypsy Sport.
Lourdes is the daughter of Madonna and Carlos Leon. Mother and daughter share a love of dancing and LGBTQ+ rights.
The singer is also a big supporter of her daughter’s armpit hair and has even gone unshaven herself. In an Instagram post, the singer showed off her own armpit hair and captioned the photo “Long hair…..Don’t Care!!!!!!”
