Marcus Lamb, the co-founder of the Christian TV network Daystar, died from Covid-19 on Tuesday. He was 64 years old, and his death was announced on the Daystar Twitter account and confirmed by his wife and son.

“It’s with a heavy heart we announce that Marcus Lamb, president and founder of Daystar Television Network, went home to be with the Lord this morning,” the network wrote. “The family asks that their privacy be respected as they grieve this difficult loss. Please continue to lift them up in prayer.”

Lamb had contracted Covid-19 a couple weeks ago and was recovering in the hospital. During his stay, both his son Jonathan and wife Joni, kept their viewers updated on his condition. On Tuesday, Joni appeared on their daily Ministry Show and told viewers that Lamb had gotten pneumonia. She asked their congregation to pray for his lungs.

According to the family, Lamb passed away around 4 a.m. Tuesday. Joni said that her husband suffered from diabetes and that he was hospitalized when his oxygen levels dropped.

Prior to his passing, the family had stayed positive about his condition. According to his son, Lamb had eaten a big bowl of oatmeal just days before and seemed to be turning around. Reports said that Marcus Lamb was treating his Covid-19 with many of the anti-vax solutions that he preached to his viewers.

During a Nov. 23 broadcast, Jonathan called his father’s sickness “a spiritual attack from the enemy.”

He said, “There’s no doubt in my mind that this is a spiritual attack from the enemy. As much as my parents have gone on here to kind of inform everyone about everything going on to the pandemic and some of the ways to treat COVID — there’s no doubt that the enemy is not happy about that. And he’s doing everything he can to take down my dad.”

During the pandemic, Marcus Lamb was outspoken about his views on vaccines. He considered the Covid-19 vaccine to be a “sin,” and his network also promoted not taking other vaccines including, the flu shot and the vaccine for HPV.

Lamb also told his viewers to use Covid-19 treatments such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine. The CDC have warned against these medicines when treating Covid-19.

His network also brought in many anti-vaccine guests. In July 2020, the network talked for an hour about the censorship that was being broadcasted during the pandemic and they had America’s Frontline Doctors on their show. The group became well-known during the pandemic for spreading misinformation about Covid-19 treatments, their videos in front of the Capitol building went viral.

While her husband was sick, Joni Lamb took to their channel and talked about the work that he had done for the Christian community. She said, “He 100% believed in everything we talk about here on Daystar, things that help so many people around the world with early protocol treatments for Covid. We still stand by those obviously.”

The Christian preacher started the Daystar Television Network in 1998 and they have over 100 TV channels in the company. Since he founded his network, Lamb was able to reach over 108 American households and over 2 million people worldwide with his messages.

Since his death, many other Christian Televangelists have taken to social media to mourn Marcus Lamb. Evangelist pastor Greg Laurie wrote on Twitter and said, “Millions have heard the Good news because he and Joni dedicated their lives to building a platform for the Gospel to reach the world.”

During the Covid-19 pandemic, other Christian broadcasters who have told their listeners to ignore vaccine mandates and turn to alternative treatments have died of Covid-19. In September, three conservative, anti-vaccination radio hosts all died within the same week of one another.
