Brazilian country singer Marilia Mendonca died in a plane crash on Friday. She was 26-years-old at the time of her death. Four other people, including two crew members, Marilia’s uncle and her producer, also passed away. The Brazilian government is running an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

The singer was traveling in a small plane to the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais to perform in a concert. The plane went down just seven miles from their destination in a rural region of the state. According to pictures and videos taken from the crash, the plane landed just below a waterfall.

The five victims flew out of Santa Genoveva airport in Goiânia on Friday and were scheduled to land in Caratinga, just north of Rio de Janeiro.

Video footage, which was posted on Twitter, show bodies being pulled from the plane crash. While Marilia Mendonca was originally reported as surviving the crash, that information is false. There were no survivors of the destructive crash. Fans are trying to understand what happened to their favorite singer.

They said, “With immense regret, we confirm the death of the singer Marília Mendonça, her producer Henrique, her uncle and advisor Abicieli Silvera Dias Filho, the pilot and co-pilot of the plane, whose names we will preserve at this time,”

The singer’s death was also announced in a statement by her PR team.
