Mark Wahlberg’s weight gain has fans shocked. The Pain & Gain star lost his signature look after dieting on McNuggets, beer, and buffalo wings for the past six weeks. The chiseled actor is known for his nearly perfect form. But now he’s been sculpted anew, and the outcome is a beer belly for the ages.

Audiences got to see the difference in Wahlberg’s physique in the new Instagram photos he posted Monday. In just three weeks, he’s lost his six pack and now has, let’s say, some added pounds.

The 49-year old actor left his perfect body behind to prepare himself for a film role, one that needs a drastically different shape. The star lifted his shirt for Instagram on Saturday, letting his gut droop lower than ever before.

“Kenny’s down 50 and I’m up about 20,” the Daddy’s Home lead captioned his Instagram post. “Inspired to be better!”

Mark Wahlberg admitted that he still has plenty more weight to put on. “I’m going up another 20,” he admitted over the weekend. Wahlberg has not confirmed what role the weight gain is for, but it seems that he’s taken method acting to a whole new level.

He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in April to explain his weight gain – before he packed it on – where he gave himself a six-week deadline to put on 30 pounds. “After we do the boxing scenes, I get to put on as much weight as possible over the course of the film,” Wahlberg told Kimmel. “So I’m challenging myself to put on 30 pounds in the next six weeks.”

With makeup, wardrobe, and plenty of CGI, it’s possible to strap on a beer belly without all the beer. Thor did it in Avengers: Endgame last year, and Chris Hemsworth was able to skip the strict McNuggets diet. However, Wahlberg is known for taking his roles seriously, challenging himself to lose and gain weight depending on the film’s needs. This one required fewer chin-ups and more bread.

The Patriot’s Day star performed the incredible feat using a strict diet plan that helped him put on the crazy weight. Wahlberg is used to packing muscle quickly for roles, in amazing displays of self-control. But in this case he was able to let loose.

“Dude, I’ve been on such a regimen for so long, I just want to eat everything in sight,” Wahlberg admitted during his Jimmy Kimmel interview. “I want to go to bakeries. I want to go to Denny’s. I want to get pancakes. I want to get everything that I can possibly get my hands on.”

His first meal was a 20-piece chicken McNuggets from McDonald’s, KFC hot wings, and a belly full of beer. The diet seemed to work!
