Few Bachelor contestants have gone on as long a journey as Nick Viall, but the former two-time runner-up may have finally met his soulmate in Natalie Joy, a surgical technologist from Los Angeles.
Ever since going public with their relationship back in January, the two have been inseparable, constantly posting photos together on their Instagram profiles and gushing about their love for one another. Spending their first Christmas together, many fans wondered if Nick Viall and Natalie Joy were going to get engaged over the holidays.
Though initially a controversial contestant and former Bachelor, Nick won the hearts of Bachelor Nation fans, with many new contestants now treating the 40-year-old as a mentor as they go through the process. As host of the Viall Files podcast, he often interviews current Bachelor favorites and discusses his own relationship.
Letting it slip that he and Natalie Joy met when she slid into his DMs in one episode, he said that he actually found it “very romantic.”
The two began dating and were practically living together by February, according to a source from Us Weekly, who said that she was simply “at his house that much.”
Nick Viall and Natalie Joy then appeared in public together for the first time at the 2021 Golden Globes in March, where Nick hosted the official pre-show. The couple also attended the MTV Movie & TV Awards together in May, posting photos nonstop of their whirlwind romance.
Writing a message on Instagram for her birthday this past September, Nick gushed that Natalie “brings out all the best sides of me,” adding that, “Your heart is even more beautiful than your angelic face.”
“Everyday you challenge me to be more empathic, kinder, caring, and more fun,” he wrote. “More than anything, thank you for making me feel safe to give you my heart. You make life incredible. I love you.”
The couple also got an adorable puppy together, who they named “Jeff.” He appears in many of their Instagram photos, with Nick recently writing that, “These two are primarily responsible for the best year of my life.”
Back in July, Nick Viall revealed that he made a conscious decision after his split with Vanessa Grimaldi that if the third time wasn’t the charm, he would start looking outside Bachelor Nation for romance.
“Some people would hang out and be like, ‘I think we should get together.’ And I’m like, ‘Listen, you seem great, but I literally don’t date anyone in Bachelor Nation,'” he said on his podcast.
After he was runner-up two years in a row – on Andi Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s – Viall became The Bachelor and proposed to Vanessa Grimaldi, though they broke up shortly after.
Nick was a highly controversial cast member, especially after he and Kaitlyn Bristowe slept together after their 1-on-1 date, before the week of fantasy suites when the reality dating show usually allows for more private time between the contestants.
He also received ire from fans of Andi Dorfman when he asked her during the After the Final Rose special why she “made love” to him in the fantasy suites if she knew she didn’t love him as much as season winner Josh Murray.
Since then, the Bachelor star may have finally found the love of his life in Natalie Joy, and according to the man himself, the couple may get engaged sometime soon.
“I wouldn’t be in a relationship with her if I didn’t think it was possible, you know?” he said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. “She’s the first person I’ve called my girlfriend, minus TV, in a long, long time.”
