Patricia Cornwall, the woman who slapped a Delta passenger in a viral video, has been identified as a former NFL cheerleader and minor Baywatch actress. Cornwall was arrested on Thursday and has been charged with assault.
The former actress, who went by her stage name Patty Breton, made a name for herself with a minor part in Baywatch (Season 7, Episode 2) and Married With Children (Season 10, Episode 17). According to her IMDB page, she also appeared in Playboy: Cheerleaders.
Before finding fame in the viral video, which has jokingly been called “Sit Down, Karen,” Patricia Cornwall also worked as an NFL cheerleader for the former Los Angeles Raiders in the ’90s. Most recently, she worked as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Realty and Berkshire Hathaway. According to reports, her realtor license expired in 2017.
The shocking video took place Thursday on Delta flight 2790 from Tampa to Atlanta, Ga. The video, which was filmed by another Delta passenger, showed Patricia Cornwall punching and spitting on an 80-year-old man who wasn’t wearing a mask.
According to the affidavit filed after Cornwall’s arrest, the former NFL cheerleader was walking down the aisle from the bathroom and asked a flight attendant with a beverage cart to help her back to her seat. The flight attendant told her to find another empty seat until she finished handing out drinks and Cornwall said, “What am I, Rosa Parks?”
The Delta passenger who she assaulted heard the comment and told Cornwall that she wasn’t Black, and they weren’t on a bus or in Alabama, so she shouldn’t use that phrase. The former NFL cheerleader became angry and started yelling at the man.
The two passengers insulted each other, with the 80-year-old man saying, “sit down, Karen,” and calling Cornwall a b*tch. Patricia Cornwall also told the man to wear his mask, which are mandatory according to airline mandates. According to the video, the man was eating.
Near the end of the video, Cornwall is seen slapping the man across the face and spitting in his face before she is pulled away by members of the flight crew. The man yelled that Patricia Cornwall would be going to jail, and then the video shows officers escorting the former actress across the tarmac of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Police reports said that Patricia Cornwall appeared in the Atlanta Federal Courthouse on Dec. 27 and was charged with assault. Her lawyer said that Cornwall was in jail from Dec. 23 to Dec. 27 before she faced a judge.
There is a $20,000 bond and according to CNN, she has already been released. Reports say that Patricia Cornwall has been put on a no-fly list by Delta Airlines and the Atlanta judge is only allowing her to travel if she intends to go back home to Los Angeles.
Because her assault charge is a Class A misdemeanor, Cornwall could face up to a year in prison and a maximum fine of $100,000 if she is found guilty.
Delta Airlines released a statement following the meltdown video and said, “Situations like these are rare for the vast majority of our customers and Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior at our airports and aboard our aircraft.”
Patricia Cornwall has not commented on the viral video.
