Norah O’Donnell‘s contract with CBS Evening News could be in jeopardy, according to new reports. O’Donnell has allegedly created a toxic work environment and may be butting heads with new CBS News co-president Neeraj Khemlani.

Khemlani is reportedly slashing network costs in an effort to make CBS News more profitable. CBS Evening News currently sits third for overall ratings, behind NBC and ABC‘s evening news programs. For the week of Feb. 28, CBS Evening News got 5.1 million viewers, while NBC and ABC got 7.4 million and 8.8 million respectively.

The CBS president is said to be looking for Norah O’Donnell’s replacement. Many CBS insiders believe that Tony Dokoupil, from CBS This Morning, could be in the running as the news anchor’s replacement. Neeraj Khemlani has previously denied the rumors that Dokoupil is going to replace Norah O’Donnell.

Khemlani released a statement last year and said, “Norah’s presence in Washington has elevated the CBS Evening News‘ coverage on all fronts. Her reporting on the military and domestic abuse has won awards and changed policies in Washington. And in addition to making headlines, the program is gaining audience share.”

His office recently felt the need to address the allegations again. The office told the New York Post, “We support Norah and the Evening News team and the quality journalism they deliver each and every night.”

Some reports say that Khemlani is only threatening to fire O’Donnell so she’ll take a massive pay cut when it comes time to renew her contract.

According to Vanity Fair, Norah O’Donnell’s contract with CBS is set to end in 2022. The news anchor currently makes $6 million to $8 million a year and has a clothing budget of $65,000 a year. O’Donnell, who typically wears high-end clothes while broadcasting has allegedly gotten into hot water with the network over her clothing needs.

Sources close to the network say that Norah O’Donnell has created a toxic work environment for other staffers. “The rehearsals are an excuse to blow up packages 15 minutes before the show,’ one person told the Post. ‘She changes the words to segments. Everyone has a stroke.”

The source went on to say that Norah O’Donnell forces CBS Evening News staff to do full dress rehearsals every evening and gets very upset if things don’t go her way. The dress rehearsals are unusual for a veteran news anchor like O’Donnell. Insiders say she will toss whole news segments if she doesn’t like them.

“There was an incident last year in the studio where she ranted about how her bronzer was wrong. We are in the middle of a pandemic and people are dying,” said a source, who also allegedly said that the CBS news anchor is known to make her makeup and hair stylists’ cry.

Norah O’Donnell’s publicist, Cindi Berger, has denied that her client is getting fired from CBS. She told the Post that the rumors about O’Donnell’s clothing allowance are sexist. She said, “It’s a clothing allowance, every news anchor has one. That figure is incorrect. I am vehemently refuting these outrageous and sexist claims!”

Others have pointed out that Norah O’Donnell is one of the only evening news anchors not in Europe for the Ukraine coverage. “David Muir, Lester Holt and Anderson Cooper are all in Ukraine. Where’s Norah? We are in the middle of a war and she’s reporting from Washington, DC,” said a source. “Either she didn’t want to go, or leadership didn’t want her to go. It’s bad either way.”

Reports say that O’Donnell is heading to Poland this week, but many insiders allege that the move is too late to save the network’s ratings.
