Will Olivia Munn and John Mulaney get engaged soon? Fans certainly think so!
Mulaney just finalized his divorce with ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler. According to reports, the divorce was official on Jan. 2, just four months after John Mulaney and Anna first announced their split and a month after Olivia Munn gave birth to the couple’s son.
Olivia Munn secretly welcomed a son on Nov. 24. The adorable baby boy’s name is Malcolm Hiep Mulaney. And the couple could not be happier. Sharing super-cute pics on Instagram, the couple has made it clear they are all in.
The baby boy was born in Los Angeles. It is the first child for both John and Olivia, and the comedian announced that they were pregnant in September, just a couple months after he announced his split from wife, Anna Marie Tendler.
John announced the pregnancy on Late Night with Seth Meyers and said that Olivia and the baby really helped him overcome his addiction. He said, “Olivia and this baby have helped save me from myself in this early journey out of recovery.”
After the pregnancy announcement, both Olivia and John were very tight-lipped about the baby. Many fans didn’t know when the due date was. In an Instagram post by John, he announced that the couple had named their son Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney.
He wrote, “Meet Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney. He has his whole life ahead of him. He hasn’t even tried seltzer yet. I’m very in love with him and his whole deal. Happy Holidays.”
In November, Olivia Munn opened up to the Los Angeles Times and said that she had a very hard pregnancy. She said, “It’s hard to be pregnant for the first time and have anybody say anything besides, like, ‘Congratulations.”
The actress also added that, “there’s no way anyone could know what any of [Mulaney’s] relationships were or what our relationship is.”
The couple received a lot of backlash about their relationship because many fans believed that the comedian had cheated on his wife with Olivia Munn. With the baby being born, Twitter users are calculating the date he was conceived. The couple could face more criticism in the near future.
One person tweeted, “Olivia Munn gave birth on Nov. 24 … meaning she conceived the baby in February … and john really expects us to believe that he “met and started dating” her in the spring the math aint mathin Mr. Mulaney.”
Despite the difficult pregnancy, Olivia told fans that her and John couldn’t wait to welcome their baby into the world. During an interview with The Today Show in November, the actress gushed about baby planning.
She said, “We talk about the same stuff. Which rocker? What type of crib do you put the baby in? What does the baby wear? Honestly, thank God for Instagram and Facebook and blogs because there’s a lot of moms who put out such great information, and that’s been a saving grace for me.”
While many fans want to see the couple get married and become a complete family with their new son, others pointed out that a new marriage might not be the best for John since he is still dealing with his recovery.
The comedian announced in December 2020 that he would be entering a rehab program for alcohol and cocaine addiction after relapsing. John had previously entered rehab in September 2020. The comedian was released from rehab in February, and in May he announced his split from Anna. The couple officially filed for divorce in July, and they are still going through the legal process.
In May, there were rumors that Olivia Munn and John had started dating.
With the chaotic year that the comedian has experienced, many fans want to see him wait on marriage and focus on his mental health and his new child. Supporters of John Mulaney think that the Internet was too quick to cast him as a villain after his divorce.
One fan tweeted in September and said, “I think it’s fine to be a little sad that John Mulaney’s “my wife is a bitch and I love her so much” marriage didn’t last but maybe don’t obsess over a dude’s life for the months immediately after he got out of rehab for a relapse and cast him as a villain, idk.”
They continued by adding, “Like people are complicated, adults get divorced, no one can really know what goes on in someone else’s marriage, and if anyone could use a little grace it’s probably someone who’s doing the work to get sober again after a relapse.”
