Rachel Uchitel, who became famous back in 2009 for having an affair with famous golfer Tiger Woods, is speaking out about the NDA she signed years ago. She opened up about the financial and legal trouble she went through as Tiger’s “other woman.”
After rumors of her affair spread, the 46-year-old was approached by Tiger’s lawyers and asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement that would prevent her from talking to anyone about Tiger and their affair.
She signed the document and was promised $8 million from the deal. Rachel Uchitel was scheduled to get $5 million at the time of signing the NDA and $1 million annually over the course of three years. She now says that she regrets her actions and is ready to tell all.
After agreeing to the NDA, Tiger’s lawyers tried to get out of paying the money. Her lawyers told her to compromise with the golfer’s team instead of fighting for her money. In the end, Rachel Uchitel left with only $2 million. She is arguing that her lawyers mishandled her case.
“His lawyers are saying, ‘We want all your text messages and here’s the price,’” she said, “and you’re like ‘screw you’ and you move into deal-maker mode and all of a sudden, it’s the rest of your life.”
She now claims that Tiger’s lawyers are after her for going against the NDA back in 2019 when she was interviewed for the tell-all HBO documentary, Tiger. Rachel Uchitel claims that Michael Holtz, a lawyer for the famous golfer, has threatened to take her money if she gets famous. “If you get a job, I’ll come after your wages. If you get married, I’ll go after your joint bank account. I will come after you for the rest of your life,” Holtz allegedly said.
Rachel Uchitel and Tiger Woods first met back in 2008 through a mutual friend and former player for the New York Yankees, Derek Jeter. The former mistress said that she knew Tiger was cheating on his wife from the beginning and that she believed she was special in Tiger’s eyes.
Their affair exploded a year later when Tiger crashed his car and his then-wife, Elin Nordegren, had to pull him from the wreckage. After the accident, the media caught wind of Tiger’s affairs. He went from famous golfer to sex addict in a matter of minutes.
Many women came forward to talk about their affairs with Tiger Woods, but Rachel Uchitel wasn’t one of them. The NDA prevented her and she was very upset. She became “tired of lying for [Woods] as he and his lawyer and agent left me out to dry.”
Since signing the NDA, Rachel Uchitel says it has brought her nothing but pain and she has found it difficult to find work. She tried to open two children’s boutiques, but they soon fell into debt and closed. In 2019 after her interview for the Tiger documentary, she filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
With her bankruptcy, she is protected from creditors who are after her money, but Holtz is trying to end that protection. The lawyer is trying to get a judge to remove the protection and allow Rachel to be sued for breaking the NDA. He claims that he wasn’t properly informed of her filing.
She claims that she has found it hard to separate herself from Tiger Woods. She says that she has lost clients, jobs, and money after people have found out how she’s connected to the famous golfer.
In recent years she has been inspired by actress Britney Spears’ court fight and Prince Harry’s documentary on mental health. She wants to inspire other people to start their own conversations because “Who is going to speak up for those of us who don’t have Oprah or a prince to rescue us?” Rachel Uchitel asked.
