Devon Mostert, wife to 49ers’ running back Raheem Mostert, shared a heartbreaking Instagram post talking about how her 3-year-old, Gunnar, was taken to the hospital with severe Covid-19 symptoms. According to the Mostert family, it was one of the scariest moments of their lives.

She said, “If you think COVID is a joke, this is our sweet G man in an ambulance today after I called 911 because he was lethargic, skin was gray, lips were purple, and had a 103.5° temperature. I’m crying even typing this … this is all SO SCARY,” she wrote. “We are thankfully back home, but my family is very much in the thick of it. I’ll update you more soon. But this is literally my CRY for you to take COVID seriously.”

According to reports, the incident happened on Wednesday. The young son’s current condition is unknown.

Raheem echoed his wife’s words on his own Instagram and said, “I could say a lot, but I’m going to keep this short because my family gets 100% of my time right now. Take COVID seriously! It’s not a joke!!”

This terrifying Covid-19 incident happened just days after Raheem Mostert was placed on the team’s Covid-19 reserve list. He is one of six 49ers’ players who have been placed on the list this week and according to the running back he has been isolating from his family to keep everyone safe.

Raheem Mostert shared that not being able to be around his family is one of the hardest things he’s ever done.

“Right now, it’s definitely difficult just being away from my family,” he said. “When we had our first son, I was able to hold him and stuff like that, just hold him with one hand, hold his little butt right on my chest. For me not to be able to do that with my second son is kinda rough on me. And I talked with my wife about it last night. We just had a long talk and shared those moments because she’s doing it for me.”

The running back hasn’t been playing since Week 2 of the season after he suffered an injury to his leg. Raheem is not expected back on the field this season, because of his injury, but many fans are hoping that he will recover for next season.

Since the couple’s Instagram post, many fans have taken to social media to express their joy that Gunnar is now home safe. Dalton Johnson wrote, “Read what Raheem Mostert and his wife Devon had to share, this sounds terrifying. Couldn’t imagine being a parent right now with all this and seeing people act like COVID is a joke.”

Devon and Raheem Mostert have two sons, 3-year-old Gunnar and 1-year-old Neeko. The couple is also expecting another baby boy soon. Devon and Raheem have been married for seven years, and recently celebrated their anniversary. The pair met at Purdue University in 2015, where Raheem was playing on the college football team.

Raheem isn’t the only athlete in their family. Devon Mostert played soccer in college and since they graduated, she has earned her black belt in Taekwondo and she’s STOTT-certified in Pilates.

The running back said in 2019, that it was Devon who kept him in football. Raheem wanted to quit, but his wife encouraged him to keep going because of how much he loved the game.
