Raven-Symone showed off her incredible weight loss journey to her two million Instagram followers, explaining how she lost 28 pounds in just a few weeks. The spontaneous Instagram Live video was filmed alongside her wife, Miranda Pearman-Maday, as they drove around their neighborhood and gawked at Raven’s amazing transformation.
“Pounds down, pounds down, check out the chin,” Raven exclaims in the video, calling attention to her freshly chiseled jawline. She’s all smiles as she turns left and right, showing off her slimmed face. Though she seems to have plenty of pride about the whole ordeal, Raven-Symone fixates on her chin.
“If ya’ll watch Raven’s Home literally right now,” the Disney star points out, “then come on this Live and see this joint, I got a whole different face going on.” The former child actor wrapped the fourth season of the sequel series, Raven’s Home, which debuted in 2017. The before and after pictures from her time on set are stunning. The four-year production has seen the star grow as an actress, but slim down on the waistline.
“It’s a whole pounds down journey,” Raven-Symone tells her fans on Instagram Live. She then explains that she’s lost a total of 28 pounds, an impressive amount, and as she puts it, “a sh-t ton of weight.”
Raven was often the subject of scrutiny as a child actor, her weight on constant display for fellow actors, producers, and directors to bash. And they did. Raven told The View in 2015 that “I remember not being able to have the bagel or anything at — we would call it crafty, where it’s just a table of food, ready for you to eat whatever you want. And I remember people would be like, ‘You can’t eat that. You’re getting fat!’ I’m like, ‘I’m 7! I’m hungry!’”
Raven was on The Cosby Show from ages 3-7, which likely put a damper on things – being called fat at such a young age. But now, she’s got Miranda on her side, working with her rather than against her.
So, how did the Cheetah Girls alum lose it all so quickly? Well, she explains in the video that there are several reasons her chin is freshly cut.
“Right now I’m doing a fast,” Raven explains, comedically dropping her gallon-sized jug of liquid – likely what keeps her satiated throughout her fast. “I’m doing a 48-hour fast, so we’re on that journey right now.”
Fasting, or oftentimes, intermittent fasting, is a powerful weight loss tool. When done right, not only is it effective, but safe, too. With a good schedule, Raven is likely to continue shedding pounds. But fasting isn’t the only way Raven cut 28 pounds. Her wife, Miranda, points out that the two of them have been on the journey together.
“We started a little exercise journey together”, Miranda explains to the fans. Though she doesn’t spoil much, she says “it’s going to be on our YouTube-ulars.” The couple has a joint YouTube channel called 8 PM, which details their lifestyle through vlogs.
Miranda Pearman-Maday says that it’s “an exercise journey challenge,” and that “it’s safe to say it’s kind of transformative.” Raven-Symone quickly responds: “I mean, do you see that jawline right now?”
Raven, still fixated on her jaw, seems thoroughly impressed with herself. “It looks like I have a neck!”
Raven-Symone might just keep the weight off, too, since she’s got a family to look forward to. There are plenty of reasons to stay healthy; four to be specific!
On May 26, Raven told Entertainment Tonight that she wants “four kids.” She explained it, saying, “I want to be able to make sure that the gatherings at the dinner table and the gatherings at holidays are full of excitement and fun. … If we just have one child, I feel like it’s not enough distraction. I want a whole bunch of people in the house.”
