Ronald Scott McCandless, the husband of the deceased, Veronica Theresa McGinley, is the prime suspect in an Ellicott City murder. The motive is still being investigated.
Police arrested McCandless on Monday after he fled the gruesome scene where his wife, Veronica Theresa McGinley, 60, lay dead. According to police reports, law enforcement officers were called to a residence in the 3700 block of Spring Falls Court Monday at around 3:40 p.m. While checking on the welfare of the individual in the Ellicott City residence, the police found McGinley, 60, deceased with undetermined injuries.
After police investigation, McCandless, 61, was labeled the prime suspect in the killing. Police later tracked McGinley’s husband to a nearby vehicle in the 4000 block of Meadowbrook Lane, arresting him on site. Charges were still pending as of April 26, but the Ellicott City husband was later charged with first- and second-degree murder and assault.
The autopsy by the medical examiner is pending and a cause of death is still unknown. Police have begun the investigation to determine McCandless’ motive.
The Howard Count police department has ruled the killing a domestic homicide, which they determined occurred late afternoon Monday. As of Wednesday morning, an attorney has not been listed for McCandless in public court records.
